There’s been a lot of anticipation and excitement surrounding the debut of Bill Belichick as the new head coach of the University of North Carolina’s football team, which is why the team’s season debut was such a stunner. On Monday night, September 1, the college football world got its first taste of what a Belichick era will look like at UNC, as he headed up his first college football game of the season.
It was a sold-out crowd watching that first game of the season, but, unfortunately, Belichick and his Tar Heels didn’t get the job done. Belichick is a fantastic coach, so it was surprising, to say the least, to see their opponent TCU pull off a stunning 48-14 win.
But, that’s all in the past, and now, the Tar Heels have to focus on the future. Belichick is used to the ups-and-downs of football, and he’s a professional, so now is his time to show who’s boss. But, one thing is different about Belichick this season, and that’s having his high-profile girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, by his side. So, will she be at the team’s game on Saturday, September 6, against Charlotte? She’s been garnering lots of attention, so it’s on people’s minds.
Will Bill Belichick Bring Jordon Hudson to the Next UNC Game?
The Tar Heels will take on Charlotte in their Week 2 game on Saturday night, September 6. While there’s been no confirmation that Hudson will be there, it would be surprising if she didn’t attend this game. That’s because Hudson has been by Belichick’s side for most of his time at UNC.
So, while there has been no confirmation of whether Hudson will be at the game, it would make sense for her to attend. All eyes are on her right now, and it’s rare to see Belichick without her by his side.
Hudson has been high-profile at UNC, although some players have asserted that she hasn’t gotten in the way of anything. “If Bill Belichick’s personal life has been the predominant topic of discussion outside North Carolina’s locker room in recent months, Tar Heels players insist it hasn’t unsettled the team at all,” David Hale of ESPN noted in an August feature.
In that same piece, UNC receiver Jordan Shipp said that he had rarely seen Hudson around the team and thinks the reports of her involvement are exaggerated.
“Social media can promote some narrative, but that was not a distraction to us at all,” Shipp said. “There was never a problem, like people saying she was running practice. We’d never really see her in the building. That was never a problem.”
Bill Belichick Talks UNC Loss
After the Tar Heels’ season opener, Belichick talked about the loss. “We’re better than what we were tonight, but we have to go out there and show that and prove it,” Belichick said in his postgame presser. “Nobody’s going to do it for us. We’re going to have to do it ourselves, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Belichick was open and honest about what went wrong, noting, “They outplayed us, outcoached us, and they were just better than we were tonight. That’s all there was to it. They did a lot more things right than we did.”
Hopefully Belichick and the Tar Heels have a better showing against Charlotte. Either way, a lot of people will be watching to see if that first game was an anomaly or not.
