Ange Postecoglou is in talks over a Premier League return less than three months after he was sacked by Tottenham.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided to sack Postecoglou at the end of last season despite the Australian leading the club to their first major trophy in 17 years.
Tottenham won the Europa League last season but their European form was not mirrored in the Premier League where they finished just 17th, losing 22 of their 38 games.
Postecoglou rejected an immediate return to management in the summer after being approached by Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.
But the 59-year-old has now approved a return to the Premier League after holding talks with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

According to talkSPORT, Postecoglou is keen on a return to Premier League management after emerging as a top target to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.
Nuno’s job is believed to be under threat despite the fact he led Forest to an impressive seventh-place finish last season and qualified for Europe.

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a bright start to the new season – taking four points from their first two games – but a rift between Nuno and transfer chief Edu could cost the former his job.
It is claimed Forest owner Marinakis has already held positive talks with Postecoglou about the former Celtic boss taking over at the City Ground.
However, The Sun say Jose Mourinho is also of interest to Nottingham Forest.

Ex-Chelsea and Tottenham manager Mourinho is currently in charge of Turkish giants Fenerbahce but has previously suggested he would be open to a return to English football.
Asked directly about his future at Nottingham Forest after the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday, Nuno said: ‘I am a person that thinks a lot before saying anything.
‘I say because I believe that things can improve but now is a moment to ignore the noise and focus on what I have to do. My job is clear.

‘Of course, there will be resolution. Everything is going to be OK, for sure. It is the moment to sit down and talk.
‘More important is how we play football and I think we are improving, trying to adjust some things and that is where my focus is.
‘We still need three players. One goalkeeper to give us another option, one to make us feel safe. Then two full-backs because Ola [Aina] and Neco [Williams] are playing all the games.
‘We are always considering if something happens, what options do we have?
‘Those are our main concerns so hopefully this week we can complete the squad and move forward.’
Pressed on his relationship with Marinakis and Edu, Nuno added: ‘The truth is we have to speak, and we will do it this week.
‘This is the truth, and we will try to create a better platform moving forward. I am a responsible person.
‘I have to look at my squad and see what they need. Now it is only the Premier League, then quick turnaround and it is going to be Europe and the cups.’
