Anna Kalinskaya’s Dog Bella Steals the Show as Mubadala Citi Open Run Continues

For the second day in a row, Anna Kalinskaya’s dog stole the show in Washington, D.C.. Following the new world No. 31’s semifinal win over Emma Raducanu on Saturday, Kalinskaya’s dog Bella ran out on court to congratulate her owner.

Earlier in the day, the Mubadala Citi DC Open shared photos of Bella’s official credentials for the week, listing her as part of Team Kalinskaya. Throughout the match, Bella was then shown sitting in her owner’s box.

This now marks the second match in a row that Bella has stolen the show in DC. Following Kalinskaya’s win over Clara Tauson on Friday, Bella ran out on court, surprising her owner, who was bent over in front of her player bench.

Given her hot streak this week, Anna Kalinskaya’s dog Bella may very well be her good luck charm. The unseeded finalist has notably eliminated two top-10 seeds from the tournament, beating No. 8 seed Magda Linette in the Round of 16, before then ousting No. 4 seed Clara Tauson in the quarterfinals.

Kalinskaya will now meet 22-year-old standout Leylah Fernandez in the finals on Sunday as she looks to capture her first WTA singles title.

Looking Back At When Anna Kalinskaya’s Dog Made Her Tennis Channel Debut

Back in April, while competing at the 2025 Charleston Open, Anna Kalinskaya’s dog Bella made her Tennis Channel debut at just 10 months old.

At the time, Kalinskaya was fresh off a stunning second-round win over Madison Keys, who entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed after winning the Australian Open at the start of the 2025 season.

While speaking on Tennis Channel post-match, Kalinskaya brought Bella along, introducing her to the world.

“This is my baby Bella, she is [my good luck charm]. She’s 10 months old. … I love being a dog mom. I have three dogs now. … I love dogs and they bring so much happiness. She (Bella) is such an angel, she behaved so good during my matches. She had some practice during preseason but now we see that hard work during my matches, she’s very patient.”

Previewing Anna Kalinskaya’s Mubadala Citi DC Open Final Against Leylah Fernandez

Sunday’s final will see 22-year-old Leylah Fernandez look to capture her fourth singles title after winning the Monterrey Open in 2021 and 2022, and the Billie Jean King Cup in 2023.

For Fernandez, the final will mark her first of the year after an impressive win over No. 3-seeded Elena Rybakina in Saturday’s semifinal, and No. 1-seeded Jessica Pegula in the Round of 16 on Thursday.

On the flip side, Kalinskaya will be looking for her first tour title after coming within arms reach of defeating Pegula in the final of the Ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin last year. While she was able to win the first set in a convincing tiebreak, Kalinskaya then gave up the second set before failing to convert on five championship points in the third.

Now, she’ll have a chance to capture her first tour title and catapult herself up the WTA rankings before the start of the Rogers National Bank Open in Montreal next week, and the US Open next month.

With both players in form, it’ll be interesting to see how things play out.
