Arsenal’s ‘next Bukayo Saka’ makes final transfer decision on his future

Arsenal starlet Amario Cozier-Duberry has made a final decision on his futureamid interest from a host of clubs both at home and abroad.

The teenage winger has been compared to Bukayo Saka on account of his playing style and ability to cut in from the right flank onto his favoured left foot.

Arsenal have been keen for Cozier-Duberry to sign a new contract, but the 19-year-old has decided to leave his boyhood club when his current deal expires on July 1.

According to the Evening Standard, Cozier-Duberry believes he is at a stage in his career where he would benefit from playing first team football on a regular basis.

Clubs in Holland, Germany, Belgium and France are said to have registered an interest, while the player will be eligible to talk with clubs in England from the start of next month.

Cozier-Duberry’s decision will represent a blow to the Gunners who had high hopes for the England Under-19 international.

‘Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him,” ArsenalUnder-18s coach Jack Wilshere told The Athletic last year.

‘He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.

‘In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.’

Few youngsters have been able to make an impact at first team level under Mikel Arteta and Cozier-Duberry is expected to be one of the first of several homegrown players to depart this summer.

Reiss Nelson has already indicated he is likely to leave with Nottingham Forest and West Ham both interested in the winger.

Eddie Nketiah, too, now appears surplus to requirements having hardly featured during last season’s run-in.

Emile Smith Rowe also faces an uncertain future having failed to win a place in Arsenal’s first choice midfield despite appearing to have overcome the injury problems that have blighted his progress in recent years.
