Atlanta Falcons’ Running Back Works Out with McCaffrey in Outer Space

Atlanta Falcons‘ stud running back Bijan Robinson is only 23-years old and just entering his third season in the NFL. That doesn’t mean it’s too early to start taking care of your body. While they didn’t exactly work out in outer space, they did use some off-the-beaten-path training techniques.

Robinson trained with San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey this offseason and he learned a few things about the importance of recovery. Given McCaffery’s injury history, he’s probably full of good tips.

“His recovery is top notch,” Robinson said Wednesday after training camp practice in Flowery Branch. “He will make sure he’s recovered all the way before every training session. He wants to make sure he’s feeling 100%. I took that away from him, and now I’m going to start doing the same thing because it’s only right to want to make sure your body’s at top-tier shape before you go onto the field. No matter what it is, if it’s a light day or a hard day, you always want to make sure you’re ready to go.”

Robinson and Christian McCaffrey got to share workout tips

McCaffrey had a monster year in 2023, leading the NFL in rushing with 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also caught 67 balls for 564 yards and another seven touchdowns. The high usage could have taken a toll on his body because he barely played all of last year, playing in four games and rushing for a paltry 202 yards.

At 29-years old, McCaffrey has learned a lot about his body and taking care of it over the repeated poundings of NFL seasons. Robinson said the two were able to get in some great workouts while exchanging ideas.

“It was really cool, like two guys coming together just trying to make each other better,” Robinson said. “He taught me a whole bunch of nuanced moves that I got to learn on the field, and I did the same with him.”

What is StratosphereATC?

The duo’s training methods were unique to say the least. According to Robinson, he and McCaffrey utilized StratosphereATC training. It’s not exactly clear from the website how it works, but it seems to simulate workouts at high altitudes. Check the link to see if you can figure it out; there isn’t a ton of readily-available information on it.

“The first commercially engineered Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy (PVHO) designed for environmental training via altitude-induced hypoxia,” the website says. “Proven to be 100% safe for human exercise training at altitude in more than 3,000 sessions at altitudes of up to 16,000 feet.”

So, it creates high-altitude environment here on Earth or does this blast you into outer space? Lunar training?

“It’s a new innovation, man,” Robinson said. “We were 18,000 feet in the air, but we were like in a machine. … It was like the coolest thing ever.”

For what it’s worth, the only other text on the corporate site says “world-class tech creating rapid health for humanity.” I really don’t know what that means, but I’m curious to know how this works. Is it similar to Terrell Owens and his hyperbaric chamber that he used to play in the Super Bowl in 2004? Robinson and McCaffrey should hope so because he recovered quickly from a nasty ankle injury to catch nine balls for 122 yards in the game.
