Arsenal face an uphill task to convince one of their most highly-rated youngsters, Chido Obi-Martin to remain at the club amid serious interest from Bayern Munich.

The 16-year-old prodigy made headlines towards the end of last season when he embarked on an astonishing goalscoring spree.

Obi-Martin finished his campaign for Arsenal’s various youth sides with an astonishing 32 goals, including 10 in one match against Liverpool.

Arsenal have made an offer to the teenager and hope they can persuade him to remain and retain his status as a scholar, before he is eligible to sign a professional contract upon his 17th birthday.

The Gunners were in a similar predicament earlier this year when Ethan Nwaneri, the youngest player in Premier League history, was considering a move to Chelsea and Manchester City, only to ultimately sign professional terms and commit his future to his boyhood club.

Bayern are, however, said to have offered Obi-Martin, who is eligible to represent Denmark at international level, an attractive deal, while the likes of Borussia Dortmund, FC Copenhagen and Ajax are also monitoring the situation.

Obi-Martin recently signed with the Elite Project Group agency which also represents the likes of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun.

At senior level, meanwhile, Arsenal have been dealt a significant blow after Benjamin Sesko opted to commit his future to RB Leipzig.

The Gunners were said to have been in pole position to sign the Slovenia international who has also attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

With time on his side, however, the 21-year-old has opted to remain with the Bundesliga club where he will sign a new deal which will contain a gentleman’s agreement over a future potential transfer.

Sesko is thought to believe that remaining in Germany will help accelerate his development given his status as an automatic starter for RB.

At Arsenal he would have faced significant competition from the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for a starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s best XI.

Arsenal may now turn their attention to the likes of Joshua Zirkzee, the Dutch striker who has impressed for Bologna, or instead opt to by a versatile wide forward capable of playing across the front line.
