Belgium 0 Slovakia 1: Unlucky Romelu Lukaku has TWO goals disallowed by VAR leaving Red Devils in Euro 2024 peril

BELGIUM were handed the first major shock of Euro 2024 as they fell to defeat at the hands of Slovakia.

The Belgian “Golden Generation” continues to disappoint at major tournaments as they begin to look more bronze aged than sparkling gold.

Slovakia shocked Belgium early with a seventh minute goal from Slavia Prague forward Ivan Schranz.

And from there it became an uphill battle for Domenico Todesco’s men.

It was another nightmare game for Romelu Lukaku, who saw shot after shot fail to find the back of the net.

Until he finally prodded home in the 56th minute after getting on the end of a goalwards header from Amadou Onana.

As if Lukaku’s night couldn’t get any worse, the striker’s close range effort was ruled out after his celebrations after VAR deemed him to have been offside.

Had Lukaku had left the ball it looked as though it would have made its way into the back of the net without his intervention.

The former Manchester United man thought he had drawn his country level once again later in the second half when he guided an effort past Martin Dubravka after 87 minutes.

But once more VAR spoiled the party for the target man as Lois Openda was deemed to have handles the ball in the build up to the goal.
