Ben Johnson and Chicago Bears Get More Good News After Win

Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are quickly rising up in the ranks, especially now that the team pulled off a lopsided 31-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns at Soldier Field on Sunday, December 14. The win was crucial for the Chicago Bears’ chances to get to the postseason, and they’re looking strong as they head into their Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers.

After the win, the Bears’ playoff probability shot up to 74%, according to NFL research. So, that’s a healthy number for the team, but they still have some wins ahead to solidify their spot in the postseason. The Browns were already out of the playoff picture before they stepped foot on the field.

But, that’s not the only good news that came the Chicago Bears’ way on Sunday. Since Chicago has been near the top of the NFC North, what happened to the Packers and Detroit Lions on Sunday also played a role in their overall playoff destiny. The Minnesota Vikings are already out of the postseason.

Chicago Bears Get Postgame News That Will Help Them

On Sunday, December 14, not only did the Chicago Bears win, but the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions both lost their games. That pushes the Bears up in the NFC North and makes them No. 1 in the NFC North again.

It really couldn’t have gone better for the Bears. Winning their game over the Browns and having both the Packers and Lions fall is exactly what they needed to rise up in the NFC North. They’re looking at a first-round bye and home playoff games if they keep this up.

The Bears’ next game is against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, December 20. Even though it’s never great to see a player injured, if it’s a player on a team on the schedule, it does help. Especially if it’s a star player. Also on Sunday, Packers star defensive end Micah Parsons got seriously injured during the team’s game against the Denver Broncos. While the Packers haven’t announced if he’ll be available for the game against the Bears next weekend, it’s apparent that he may be too injured to take the field.

Ben Johnson Praises Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears

During the win over the Browns, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams completed 17 of 28 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, according to ESPN research. Plus, he ran for 13 yards on three carries.

“I would say 99% of the quarterbacks, you tell them don’t even waste your time looking back there and trying to make that throw,” Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson said after the win. “There’s usually bad things that happen, and yet he’s got the ability to make that throw, and DJ made a heck of a play there right on the back line as well. That was one of those highlight moments there.”

But, Johnson said that he doesn’t rest easy after this win. Instead, he sees more areas where the Bears can improve.

“You win a game 31-3, yet there are a number of areas where we can,” he said, “and where we need to address.”
