In the biggest moments, the Chicago Bears continue to show up when it really matters. This has been a theme for the team the entire season as they’ve accomplished a league high seven fourth-quarter comeback victories. These wins speak volumes about the belief Ben Johnson and his staff have imbued within the players. In the midst of a culture-altering season, one of the many bright spots has been rookie tight end Colston Loveland.

GettyChicago Bears tight end Colston Lovleand has 713 yards and 6 touchdowns in the 2025 regular season.
In Chicago’s most important game of the year, the rookie had a career day, catching 8-of-15 targets for 137 yards. He had eight more targets and 72 more yards than the next closest receiver. It was an outstanding day for the 22-year-old stud as he’s developed into one of Williams’ go-to options.
Ben Johnson spoke about Loveland’s progression throughout the year in his media availability following the exciting win.
“When we drafted him, he was still coming off the injury,” Johnson said. “It did take a little bit of time before we built that trust with him… a little bit of a slower start early in the year, and then it just kind of picked up, and it’s clicked for us. I know Caleb has an immense amount of trust in him. He’s a guy who’s one of the first ones in the building every single day. He’s always studying his playbook while he’s eating breakfast. He’s always the last one off the practice field, doing the JUGS machine. He’s been the model of consistency, which, for a rookie, you know, speaks volumes.”
Loveland leads all-pass catchers throughout the first round of the playoffs and will look to continue his breakout performance as the Bears prepare to host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, January 18th.
Ben Johnson Provides Insight into Team Comeback Mentality
The ‘Cardiac Bears’ knack for thrilling finishes has become somewhat of a team strength throughout the course of the year. Following their latest fourth-quarter riot, Ben Johnson provided insight into how the team continues to respond so well to those circumstances.

GettyChicago Bears left guard Joe Thuney won Super Bowl LI with the New England Patriots in his rookie season.
“The one thing that we had done during training camp was we had shown the film of the Atlanta and New England game,” Johnson said. “We have players on our roster that were part of both those teams. You know Grady [Jarrett] was with Atlanta, and Joe Thuney was with New England. It was just great to get perspective from both of those players on how that game went down. I think it’s just a good lesson to be learned that 28-3 in the middle of the third quarter, and yet the game is still being played, and there’s a lot of time left. That was my message to the group, reminding them that this has been done before.”
Ben Johnson always emphasizes opportunity and keeps perspective at the forefront of his players’ minds. He spoke on creating a moment that the team will never forget and capitalizing on what they do well. Safe to say, the players got the message and responded loud and clear.
The Next Round of the Playoffs is Officially Set

GettyLos Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown for 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns this season.
The Chicago Bears will officially welcome MVP frontrunner Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams to Soldier Field at 6:30 PM Eastern this Sunday night, January 18th.
The Rams just had their own comeback attempt against the Carolina Panthers in their 34-31 victory. Both teams have shown an ability to play their best at the most pivotal moments, so it remains to be seen who will have the final laugh.
Caleb Williams did take down the Rams 24-18 in his rookie season, but both teams couldn’t be more different from the last time they played. If the Bears want to keep pace with the Rams this time, Williams will need to evoke the qualities that got him drafted first overall, while also showing the maturity he’s developed under Ben Johnson.
If the Bears this season have proved anything, it’s that regardless of outcome, it’s bound to be a nail-biter.
