Betfair

Paidi’s Passion – 20/1 (SP 9/1)
Berry Edge – 22/1 (SP 11/1)
Nancy P – 25/1 (SP 10/1)

Stake: £1 E/W

Odds: 12,557/1

Returns: £12,752

It’s difficult enough to pick a winner at short odds at the best of times.

But this plucky bettor selected and won their treble with three horses at distant odds of 20/1, 22/1 and 25/1 with a £1 each-way stake!

The afternoon got off to a flyer when Dylan Hogan steered 25/1 chance Nancy P to victory by more than 2 lengths over Miss Dubai in the 14:00 at Lingfield.

Our mystery punter was forced to wait over two hours until the David Thompson-trained Berry Edge (22/1) lined up at Carlisle.

The 6YO was slowly away but it’s not how you start – it’s how you finish. Berry Edge kept on well inside the final furlong and pipped Highwaygrey in the final strides.

“It’s Paidi’s Passion over the last as if it was the first!”

Two down, one to go.

Cash out must have been tempting for this Betfair customers, but they resisted the urge with everything now riding on Paidi’s Passion (20/1).

It was heart in mouth stuff when the 8YO jumped left and mistake at the 7th, but Kevin Sexton kept his composure before going clear two out.

After the race, Paidi’s Passion’s jockey Sexton said: “It was all pretty straight forward really.”

Betfair then tweeted: “It was a sensational day of punting for one Betfair customer whose £1 E/W Treble paid out over 12k!”
