Bill Simmons Names One Team For Best Giannis Trade Package

NBA pundit Bill Simmons gets respect as one of the smartest minds for his past history predicting some blockbuster trades before they happened. Simmons is making his opinion known about the potential upcoming trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Teams like the New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are rumored to have strong interest in adding the former MVP winner.

Simmons made it clear that he felt Miami has the best trade package to offer:

“Two different scenarios: one has Bam in it, which I think if you’re doing this, you probably try and keep Bam [Adebayo], but pretty easily you can do the three brothers, Giannis and his two brothers. They have to be in the trade with Bobby Portis, and you get back [Tyler] Herro and Bam, [Kasparas] Jakucionis, who needs to leave Miami because he’s a pick-and-roll guy and picks.”

The interesting names involved feature Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and Kasparas Jakucionis on Miami’s side. Simmons also mentions that the other Antetokounmpo brothers will likely have to join Giannis in a trade since the Bucks signed them as a favor to their franchise player.

Simmons: Heat Pairs Giannis With Bam

The conversation continued with Simmons deciding that the most likely trade package would see Adebayo removed and replaced with Andrew Wiggins and young prospect Kel’el Ware. Simmons talked about Miami refusing to include Bam in a Kevin Durant trade years ago and his importance only growing for the Heat since that time.

“I think the more likely one [is the] three brothers [for] Herro, Ware, who’s good, Wiggins, and picks,” Simmons said on his podcast. “It’s a three-for-one. Herro, I’m getting a top 45 guy in the league who can put up 25 a night. I’m getting a really good young center who I’m shocked by how much he’s progressed this year, and I’m getting a bunch of picks and a tradeable contract in Wiggins.”

The discussion confirmed that Simmons thinks Ware is the best young prospect and Herro is one of the best overall players that Milwaukee could acquire for Antetokounmpo. Future draft picks would round out the compensation to start a rebuild.

What Can Teams Trade For Giannis?

Simmons doesn’t believe the other teams have enough to offer a strong package for Giannis. The Knicks are the favorite due to previous reports of Antetokounmpo naming them as his desired destination during offseason trade conversations. However, they traded most of their future picks for Mikal Bridges and have no young assets.

Milwaukee will have to settle for a weaker trade package in favor of making Giannis happy if that trade takes place. The Spurs stand out as a great option for having young players Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper. Simmons didn’t mention their package when crowning the Heat as the best choice.

Time will tell if other unknown teams enter the fray and offer something the Bucks can’t refuse. Antetokounmpo is still an easy top five player in the league and must give Milwaukee a chance to retool with positive assets if trading a franchise GOAT.
