The Buffalo Bills towered over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, November 2, and things went down exactly how the Bills had hoped. This rivalry is decades in the making, so it’s always a treat when the Bills take on the Chiefs, especially when there’s a Buffalo win involved. In the end, the Bills conquered the Chiefs with a 28-21 final score, which made for a riveting night for the Bills’ camp.
However, the evening wasn’t totally without heartbreak. During the contest, defensive end Michael Hoecht left the game after suffering a non-contact lower-body injury. After Hoecht was assessed by the medical staff, the Buffalo Bills took to X to announce that Hoecht suffered an Achilles injury.
An Achilles injury is usually a season-ending issue, so it was expected that this incident would put an end to Hoecht’s budding season with the Bills. Hoecht had already missed the initial six games of the Buffalo Bills’ season because he was serving a suspension under the performance-enhancing drug policy. His first game with Buffalo was the team’s win on Sunday, October 26, over the Panthers.
Buffalo Bills Announce Injury News Following Kansas City Chiefs Game
On Monday, November 3, the Bills officially announced that they have put Hoecht on injured reserve. Before leaving the game against the Chiefs, he had clocked two tackles and a half-sack on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, according to Pro Football Refence research. He clocked five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in his two games with the franchise.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced on Monday that Hoecht is out for the season due to suffering a torn Achilles, as expected. McDermott added that it’s a disappointing end to the season for the player.
“He’s looked forward to these moments because he was out earlier in the year with his suspension,” McDermott said, according to the team. “To get off to such a fiery start and impact the team in such an influential way in such a short amount of time, when you go through a situation like that it’s a natural disappointment. It’s a shame, it really is…He is as tough as they come and it’s important that we support him all the way through this.”
Hoecht signed a three-year deal with Buffalo on March 14. This season marked his fifth year in the NFL.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills in the Spotlight
During the Chiefs game, Allen completed 23 of 26 passes for 273 yards and three total touchdowns, according to NFL research. He even set an NFL record for quarterbacks with his 78th career rushing touchdown, surpassing the great Cam Newton, who had 77. The numbers don’t count playoff games.
It was a big night for Allen, and the Bills took to X to celebrate the quarterback’s numbers, stating, “Josh Allen things,” and followers responded with nice comments. “Breaking records is his thing,” one noted. “Watching history every week,” another said. “Like rewriting gravity with a spiral,” another commented.
The Buffalo Bills are riding high on that win over the Kansas City Chiefs and now have a 6-2 record for the season. They’ll take on the 2-7 Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 9, in Florida.
