The Buffalo Bills will face a critical test to see if they can keep their divisional title hopes alive against the New England Patriots, and could be at their best health in months.
The Bills shared some good news on their first injury report of the week, showing on Wendesday that several key players could be on track to return. The Bills already saw tight end Dalton Kincaid return to the field for last week’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and Kincaid could be getting even healthier as the Bills prepare for the rematch with their division rival.
Bills Getting Healthy at the Right Time
The Bills come into Sunday’s game trailing the Patriots by two games. While a loss would eliminate the Bills from division title contention and give the Patriots their first AFC East win since Tom Brady’s departure in 2019, a win would put pressure on the Patriots down the final stretch of the season.
As Ralph Ventre of SI.com noted, the Bills will head into Foxboro with some key improvements among their injured players.
“The Buffalo Bills may be turning a corner when it comes to the health of five key starters,” Ventre wrote. “All four players â RT Spencer Brown, WR Joshua Palmer, LB Terrel Bernard, DE Joey Bosa â who were unavailable in Week 14Â continue to improve according to Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott.”
Kincaid, who had a big game against the Bengals with four receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown, is also getting closer to full health.
“On Wednesday, the Bills listed Kincaid as a full participant while removing the hamstring issue from the practice report,” Ventre wrote. “As the Bills prepare to visit the New England Patriots on December 14, the efficient pass-catcher appears to be dealing with only the knee injury that popped up last week.”
Bills May Need to Win Out for Division Hopes
The Bills appear to be getting hot with consecutive wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Bengals, but still face a challenge the rest of the way. They likely need to win out their remaining four games to have a chance of catching the Patriots.
The game will feature last year’s league MVP in Josh Allen and this year’s frontrunner, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots quarterback shared some love for his rival quarterback this week, saying he has a good relationship with Allen.
âItâs a little different when youâre playing the MVP,â Maye told WEEI. âOne of the best players in the league⦠Shoot, I hate to say it, but heâs fun to watch when heâs playing. Big fan of him off the field⦠Heâs been great to me.â
