Bills Get Good News in Latest NFL Power Rankings

The Buffalo Bills are back in action and hoping that this will finally be the year they bring home a championship. There’s no reason to not believe in this team. They have the current MVP in Josh Allen, who is only getting better as the seasons continue, and they have a solid head coach in Sean McDermott, who has lead the team to multiple playoff appearances since joining them in 2017.

So, how do the Buffalo Bills stack up against the other teams in the NFL this season? Yes, my friend, it’s time to start looking at NFL power rankings. Right now, rankings are starting to trinkle in, and while it’s still fairly early to look at NFL power rankings, it’s really not too premature.

NFL analysts started sharing their power rankings as early as February, so August seems like a reasonable time to seriously look at power rankings. Now, Ralph Vacchiano at Fox Sports has released his 2025 NFL power rankings, and he has the Buffalo Bills in one of the top spots, which is no surprise.

Buffalo Bills and the 2025 NFL Power Rankings

In his feature, which was published on Monday, July 28, Vacchiano admits that these are early power rankings that that things could change a lot before the first NFL snap takes place.

In the article, Vacchiano states, “The summer could change a lot, especially when the preseason games (and the injuries) begin. But for now, here’s our preseason look at how the league is ranked from bottom to top after free agency and the draft, and now that every NFL team has officially opened camp.”

As for the Buffalo Bills, the has them at No. 4 on the tally, which is a solid spot, but we do think they could be higher. But, it’s difficult to complain seeing them in the top five on the tally. In the piece, Vacchiano also sings the praises of Allen.

“As long as they have MVP Josh Allen at quarterback, they should reside in the top five,” he notes in the feature. “Honestly, if someone could guarantee they wouldn’t have to face the Chiefs in the playoffs, they might be No. 1 or 2. Allen is that good, though it would be nice if the Bills would put more offensive talent around him.”

He adds that the team “focused more on defense in the offseason,” which is a good thing, “restocking a front line with, among others, Joey Bosa, and helping the secondary by adding corner Tre’Davious White and drafting corner Maxwell Hairston in the first round.” He adds that the moves make sense because the Bills “need help stopping the Chiefs, Ravens and some of the other offensive powerhouses in the AFC if they want to make their long-awaited return to the Super Bowl.”

The NFL’s No. 1 Team Right Now

So, let’s see which team Vacchiano picks as the best in the NFL heading into the 2025-26 season. “The defending champs deserve the No. 1 spot for now, but they only have a tenuous hold on it,” he notes in the piece. He adds that “as long as Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts are healthy, they are as good, deep and talented as any team in the league.”

So, the team to beat is the reigning champion: the Philadelphia Eagles. If anyone can do it, it’s the Bills.
