Bills Get Good News on Rumored $45 Million Trade Target

The Buffalo Bills have taken some big swings in the past few years in an attempt to supercharge their pass rush, and now could have an opportunity to take the biggest one yet.

The Bills have been named a top suitor for Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons, who has been embroiled in a contract dispute that continues to unravel as the regular season approaches. Parsons could be headed to the trade block in the coming days, which could give the Bills a chance for the biggest addition to their defense in years.

Several Teams Inquiring on Micah Parsons

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Cowboys are willing for the first time to listen to trade offers for Parsons, with several teams already reaching out.

“No trade is imminent, but another team always could be aggressive enough to make it come together quickly, per sources,” the report noted.

The Cowboys are looking for a resolution in the coming days, either signing Parsons to a contract extension or shipping him out of Dallas.

“The Cowboys would like to resolve the situation, one way or another, in the coming days, with their season opener next Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles,” the report noted. “The Cowboys hold their first full practice in preparation for the Eagles on Friday.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this month that he would not trade Parsons, who had asked for a trade after contract talks broke down.

Parsons will be costly for any team that lands him. The Cowboys are expected to ask for multiple first-round picks, and the edge rusher is predicted to land a new contract between $43 million and $45 million per year.

Bills Seen as Top Landing Spot for Micah Parsons

While the Bills are tight against the salary cap, Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk believes they would be a top contender to land Parsons in a trade.

“The best candidates would be a contending team that hopes to go all in. Their first-round picks would likely be low,” Florio wrote, “The impact Parsons makes could be significant. The obvious candidates are the Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. Both want to get past the Chiefs. Parsons could help make that happen.”

The Bills fell just short of the Super Bowl last season, struggling to establish a consistent pass rush in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Though the Bills have won the AFC East in five straight seasons, they have not been able to get past the Chiefs in the playoffs and could be looking for a big addition like Parsons.

The Bills have made some big attempts to boost their pass rush in recent seasons, signing All-Pro Von Miller in 2022. His career was knocked off course when he suffered a torn ACL during his first year in Buffalo, with Miller struggling in his return to the field in the next season.

The Bills parted ways with Miller this offseason and signed Joey Bosa, who has also been hampered by injuries in recent seasons.
