Bills Get Proposed Trade Package For 1,000+ Yard AFC West WR1

The Buffalo Bills, sitting at 5-2, are just half a game behind the New England Patriots – who currently rest at the top of the AFC East.

As much as the Bills have been – as expected – one of the top, top teams in the league this season, there are still some deficiencies in their game.

The passing attack stands out, given that the Bills rank just 15th in the league – middle of the pack – despite holding one of the top two quarterbacks in football in Josh Allen.

Part of that comes down to the fact that Buffalo does not have receiver on the roster who has ever managed 1,000 or more yards receiving in a singular season. And despite Allen’s capabilities in being able to spread the ball around to different guys, it feels like the team would massively benefit from having someone who could be a legitimate top target for Allen.

Bills Trade Idea Sees Them Move For AFC West WR1

And that person could be, according to Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, Las Vegas Raiders wideout, Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers has been on the trade bubble since he had a request denied earlier this offseason – something that was then echoed last week when he said that he still wanted to be moved. And Buffalo makes about as much sense as any team looking for help at the position.

“The Buffalo Bills have been and will remain a Super Bowl contender while Josh Allen is playing MVP-caliber football, but there’s still room for them to improve the roster.” Kay wrote on Tuesday.

“The wide receiver position is surprisingly thin in western New York, with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer making up Allen’s three main targets. While this is a serviceable group, it lacks a proven playmaker like Meyers to take it to the next level.”

Jakobi Meyers Could Be The Bills’ Next WR1

Kay also notes that although bringing in the former undrafted free agent pickup for the Patriots is not equivalent to bringing in a clear WR1, like DK Metcalf – who was moved this past offseason – Meyers has shown he can be a boon to an offense above and beyond being a mere role player.

“While Meyers isn’t a prototypical alpha No. 1 wideout, he’s done a fantastic job moonlighting in that role following Devante Adams’ departure last season. He’s shown he can carry an offense and succeed despite a lack of firepower under center, and he would be a strong bet to raise his game to new heights if he got a chance to work with Allen.”

The Raiders are not in a position to be getting cute with their players, currently residing at 2-5 in what is otherwise a stacked AFC West division, so it figures that they should strongly consider moving some of their good, but not next level elite – like Maxx Crosby – veteran players.

Kay believes that a third round pick would be commensurate value to lure Buffalo, and if Vegas retains their stance that they are still wanting to keep the former New England man, it could take as much as that to bring him to the North East.
