Bills Kicker Matt Prater’s Wife Left ‘Sobbing’ After Game-Winning FG

The Buffalo Bills put on quite a show against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. For the fans who left the game early, they missed out on an epic finale.

Down 15 points with four minutes to go, it looked like Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Co. looked like they would start the 2025 NFL season with a loss. However, the team came roaring back, with Allen becoming the first player to ever record over 250 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns in a single quarter of an NFL game.

While the Bills’ defense allowed Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and lead rusher Derrick Henry to run all over them during the first three quarters, they forced a three-and-out on their final offensive possession.

With 1:26 left in regulation, Allen led his offense 66 yards down the field, setting up kicker Matt Prater to drill a 32-yard field goal. Prater, who at age 41 joined the team three days prior to fill in for an injured Tyler Bass, delivered the win for Buffalo.

The Bills rushed the field and lifted Prater on their shoulders. Prater’s wife, Kati Prater, made it to Highmark Stadium for his first game in Buffalo and shared her emotional reaction on social media.

Matt Prater’s Wife, Kati Prater, Was ‘Sobbing’ After The Bills’ Wild Finish

Prater and Kati celebrated their 10th anniversary in April and share four children together, Ava, Pax, Elle, and Kit. Considering Prater landed in Buffalo just a few days before suiting up, it’s impressive his family made it to Orchard Park on such short notice. However, Kati couldn’t have been more excited.

She posted on Instagram after he signed with the team, “We love you so much and go kill it in Buffalo! Does this mean I’m required to break some tables? #billsmafia ❤️💙.”

Kati was stunned by the Bills’ comeback victory and the crucial role her husband played in it. She posted several photos from the team’s postgame celebration and wrote, “No words. Literally sobbing. I’m so proud and I have no more words 🫶🏼.”

Kati also posted a video of the game-winning kick from the stands and wrote, “Sobbing 😭.” One fan commented, “What an incredible moment for you guys!! The jumping and hug from Pax made it so much better ❤️🙌🙌🙌.”

Another person wrote, “So happy to see you were there!!!! So genuinely happy for you and your whole family!!!”

Speaking to WGR 550’s Sal Capaccio immediately after the game, Prater was on the same page as his wife. “What a crazy game,” he said. “For the offense to even set it up to be a short kick is incredible. I’m on cloud 9. I can’t even explain how I feel.

The 19-year NFL veteran called the past few days “insane,” noting how Sunday was the first day he felt human. “I’ll tell you what, this organization, top to bottom, since I’ve been here. Second to none. Incredible.”

Bills QB Josh Allen Offered Matt Prater High Praise After The Game

During his postgame press conference, Allen recalled Prater’s message to him before kickoff. “‘I know we don’t know each other that well yet, but I just want to let you know, I know I just got here, it may not be perfect right now, but I’m going to do everything I can to try to be perfect to help this team win while I’m here,’” Prater said to Allen.

“This guy has been around the league a long time, and I’m just thankful he’s for us,” the quarterback concluded. With Bass on injured reserve, the Bills will look toward Prater to start for at least another three weeks.
