Bills Make Historic Josh Allen Announcement During Chiefs Game

The Buffalo Bills take on the Kansas City Chiefs in yet another highly anticipated showdown in Week 9. While Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Co. are 0-4 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs, they are 4-1 against Kansas City during the regular season.

Both teams are coming off dominant Week 8 wins. The Chiefs crushed the Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday Night Football while the Bills blew out the Carolina Panthers 40-9. Allen knows it will take a full team effort to defeat Kansas City on Sunday, November 2.

“Anytime you’re playing against a good team and a good quarterback, you have to play at the top of your game in order to win a football game,” Allen told reporters on Wednesday.

“There’s a heightened sense of awareness to understanding who is on the other side of the football. Our goal is to try and score on every single drive, and that’s what we try to do.”

While Allen didn’t score on every drive, he connected with tight end Dalton Kincaid for the first touchdown of the game. When Allen ran the ball in for a touchdown himself in the second quarter, he made NFL history.

Josh Allen Has the Most Rushing Touchdowns By a QB in NFL History

The Bills announced on X with 1:33 left in the first half, “With his 78th career rushing TD, Josh Allen has now surpassed Cam Newton (77) for the most rushing TDs by a QB (including playoffs) in NFL history.”

Allen is also the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for at least six touchdowns in each of his first eight seasons.

The very short list of players to achieve this feat include four Hall of Famers — Marshall Faulk (10 consecutive seasons from 1994-2004), LaDainian Tomlinson (10 from 2001-10), Jim Brown (nine from 1957-65) and Thurman Thomas (eight from 1989-96) — along with Derrick Henry (eight from 2018-25).

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Knows It Won’t Be Easy to Get a Win in Buffalo

Mahomes knows it’s not easy to go into Highmark Stadium and get a win. Speaking to reporters earlier this week, he only had compliments for Kansas City’s AFC rival.

“I think they’re extremely talented. They’re extremely well-coached. They do the right thing. They’re always in the right spot. It’s not like they have any busted coverages or anything like that,” Mahomes said of Buffalo’s defense.

“They’re well-coached, and a lot of great, great football players. And so, it’s always a great challenge for us. And you have to make sure that you’re locked in the entire game, or they’re gonna capitalize on your mistakes.”

While playing in a hostile environment is never easy, the three-time Super Bowl MVP looks at the situation as glass glass-half-full.

“I think it’s cool, honestly… When you’re on the road, you have your teammates and your coaches, and you kind of have to bond together. And there’s going to be adversity, and it’s about how you can bond together and come out on the other side of that and come out on the right way with a win.”
