Bills Projected To Be Top Contender To Move For Ex 2nd Round CB

After a week 7 bye, the Buffalo Bills will look to get back to winning ways after successive losses to division rivals, the New England Patriots, in addition to the Atlanta Falcons.

Although the team boasts a top-two passing defense behind just the Falcons, that position is not necessarily representative of the play of parts of the secondary since the start of the season.

Tre’Davious White‘s play has left a lot to be desired, whilst Christian Benford seems to be having somewhat of a down year after signing a four year, $76 million extension this past April.

So, it would stand to reason that the franchise may desire some reinforcements at the cornerback position prior to November’s trade deadline, as Buffalo looks to finally return to the Super Bowl for the first time in over three decades with their future Hall of Fame quarterback, Josh Allen.

Bills Predicted To Be A Prime Candidate To Move For CB

ESPN’s Matt Bowen and Jeremy Fowler compiled a list of players they believe could be moved over the next couple of weeks, and one of the top players noted by the pair is New Orleans Saints‘ fourth year cornerback, Alontae Taylor.

Although Bowen and Fowler admit that this is far from a given thing; they believe there is approximately a 25% chance of him being traded at or before the deadline; the Saints could be smart to get some value out of CB, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

“The Saints don’t want to trade Taylor but would consider it if they receive a strong offer.” Fowler wrote on Wednesday. “He is on the radar of a few teams. Taylor is a 2026 free agent who figures to earn a big payday, and it’s worth noting that the Saints have a young core of defensive backs they like in Kool-Aid McKinstry, Quincy Riley and Jonas Sanker.”

Alontae Taylor Could Help Upgrade The Bills’ Secondary

Bowen also adds that even though New Orleans may choose to let him him walk in March 2026 – partially due to their perennially turbulent cap situation – he is still a valuable player in the league with a multi-faceted skill-set and proven track record.

“Taylor’s versatility and urgent play style shows on the tape.” Bowen added. “He has the speed to cover on the perimeter, but he can also play a disruptive role in the slot. In four years with the Saints, Taylor has 6 sacks, 3 INTs and 36 pass breakups.”

For a franchise that could do with both starter help on the outside and cover in the slot, Taylor makes a lot of sense. The team are still awaiting rookie first round pick, Maxwell Hairston‘s return to the starting lineup, after having practiced with the team for the first time since training camp – having been out with a knee problem – on Wednesday.

Even with Hairston’s hopefully imminent debut, the Bills are not assured of the rookie being able to perform to a high degree over the course of his first few games as a starter – particularly given the fact that he is coming off a serious injury.

A trade for Taylor would not break the bank, and it would likely shore up what has otherwise been a suspect unit so far this year in Buffalo.
