Bills Sign Offensive Lineman With 65 Starts & Cut Undrafted Rookie

The Buffalo Bills are hoping that 2025 will be the year they finally get over the hump and make a Super Bowl run. In order to do that, though, they are going to have to protect superstar quarterback Josh Allen. While the team’s offensive line is largely set in stone, the front office recently made a pair of roster moves to shore up its depth at this spot.

While the starting unit is largely healthy for the time being, depth options like Alec Anderson and Sedrick Van Pran-Granger are dealing with some injuries. In order to keep the level of competition at training camp high, the team swapped out one of their undrafted rookies for a veteran offensive lineman who has quite a bit of starting experience throughout his career.

Bills Sign Dan Feeney, Release Rush Reimer

For all intents and purposes, Buffalo’s starting offensive line (from left tackle to right tackle) will feature Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence, and Spencer Brown. Both Dawkins and McGovern were Pro Bowlers last season, and overall, this is one of the better offensive line groupings in the league.

Injuries are a part of football, and while this group largely stayed healthy last year, there’s no guarantee that will happen again in 2025. As a result, having the best depth possible behind these guys is imperative, so after the 2025 NFL Draft, the team took a flier on former California Golden Bears offensive lineman Rush Reimer and signed him as an undrafted free agent.

Reimer played 12 games for Cal last season, but his time with the Bills has come to a premature end, as he was released by the team on Monday morning. In a corresponding roster move, the team opted to sign veteran lineman Dan Feeney, who has started 65 games over the course of his eight-year career in the pros.

“The Bills made an addition to their offensive line room on Monday morning. Buffalo signed offensive lineman Dan Feeney to the roster,” Maddy Glab of buffalobills.com reported. “To make room for this move, the Bills released offensive lineman Rush Reimer.”

Dan Feeney

Feeney isn’t the same player he was earlier in his career when he was a weekly starter for the Los Angeles Chargers, as he profiles as a backup interior option who has the versatility to play at either guard spot or center. While Reimer may have more upside, Feeney provides an extra layer of insurance behind McGovern, with Van Pran-Granger still on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

In an ideal world, Feeney won’t be regularly suiting up for Buffalo, and he may only be around as a guy to provide some competition during training camp. Regardless, his addition adds another wrinkle to the Bills’ o-line room, and given his experience as a starter, he’s a name worth keeping tabs on to see if he can find his way onto the initial 53-man roster.
