Bills Writer Urges $12 Million Playmaker To Have Huge Season In Contract Year

This offseason, the Buffalo Bills aimed to improve their defensive line to get after opposing team quarterbacks late in games.

Last season in the AFC Championship Game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to sit back and pick apart Buffalo’s defense.

The Bills fell to the Chiefs for the fourth time in the last five postseasons. If Buffalo wants to improve its chances of beating Kansas City in January, then having a player who can get after Mahomes will help.

Buffalo Added Joey Bosa This March

In March, the Bills signed Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa on a one-year $12.6 million contract.

The 30-year-old pass rusher played nine seasons for the Chargers, recording 72 sacks in 107 games.

One of the significant concerns about Bosa is his ability to stay healthy, as he has only played 28 games since the 2022 season.

Bosa also hasn’t recorded double-digit sacks since 2021, so there is a long shot he will be able to do that again in his career.

The Bills need Bosa to stay healthy, most importantly, to show up and play in the playoffs, where the team will need him the most.

Bills Writer Urges Bosa To Have A Good  Season

With all the expectations around the team, Bosa needs to make an impact, and Marcus Mosher from Fansided thinks Bosa must step up in a contract season this year.

“The Bills signed Bosa this offseason to a lucrative one-year deal with the hopes that he can be a difference-maker in the postseason. But the knock on Bosa throughout his career has been his inability to stay on the field. He’s played just 941 total snaps on defense over the past three seasons, and it’s fair to wonder how much he has left despite just turning 30 in July,” Mosher wrote. “Bosa is already dealing with a calf injury, and it remains to be seen when he’ll practice. But if Bosa can’t stay on the field consistently this year, it’s likely that he won’t return in 2026. The Bills are taking a big swing on his talent, hoping he can make the difference in the postseason. Bosa needs to put together a strong season if he wants to continue to earn big-time deals in free agency.”

This season is likely a one-and-done for Bosa in Buffalo, as if he plays well, he could end up getting a huge payday that the Bills won’t be able to afford.

Bosa Could Bring A Super Bowl To Buffalo

If Bosa plays poorly, then there is no reason why the Bills would want to bring him back for 2026, so Bosa’s time in Orchard Park will likely come to an end this upcoming winter.

It would be a great thing if Bosa has a great season, helps the Bills win the Super Bowl, and then enters free agency, getting a big contract offer that will likely be the last one he ever gets.

The Bills’ season could come down to the health and play of Bosa, and he can stay on the field for all 17 regular-season games and an entire postseason run.
