The Toronto Blue Jays‘ World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers is going the distance. With everything that has happened in this series so far, it was destined to go seven games, and who doesn’t love watching baseball in November?
The end of Game 6 was dramatic, to say the least. Therefore, Game 7 of the 2025 World Series should not disappoint. Everything from Trey Yesavage‘s stellar rookie starts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto‘s complete game, to Freddie Freeman and Addison Barger breaking records, and an 18-inning game, this World Series has had a little bit of everything.
It all comes down to Game 7 in this World Series. Here are the starting pitchers for the Blue Jays and the Dodgers.
Blue Jays: Who’s Pitching Game 7?
Late last night, the Sportsnet social media account on X confirmed the starting pitcher for the Blue Jays. According to the post, Max Scherzer will be the Blue Jays’ Game 7 starter.
Speaking after the Game 6 loss, manager John Schneider expressed his confidence in the Blue Jays veteran pitcher entering Game 7.
“It’s the two best words in sports, ‘Game seven, ‘” Schneider said to the media following the game. “No better guy to have on the mound to navigate the emotions, the stuff. Max has been getting ready for Game 7, when he knew he was pitching Game 3.”
“All the confidence in the world in him and everyone tomorrow.”
Scherzer, 41, has started in two games during the 2025 postseason. In those games, he’s pitched 10 innings, thrown eight strikeouts, and five walks with an ERA of 4.50.
Dodgers: Who’s Pitching Game 7?
The Dodgers will head into Game 7 of the 2025 World Series seeking to become the first back-to-back winners of the Championship since the New York Yankees did over two decades ago.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, their starting pitcher will be none other than Shohei Ohtani.
“Ohtani, according to a source briefed on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ plans, will start Game 7 of the World Series on three days’ rest,” Rosenthal wrote in the early hours of November 1st. “He also will fill his customary role as the Dodgers’ leadoff batter and designated hitter.”
Rosenthal also discussed the last time that Ohtani pitched on three days of rest.
“Ohtani, 31, has pitched only once on three days’ rest,” Rosenthal wrote. “And that was only because rain delays forced him out of a game in Boston after two innings in 2023, enabling him to come back quickly.”
While Dodgers manager Dave Roberts hasn’t officially named a starting pitcher at the time of this writing, starting Ohtani makes a ton of sense.
Tyler Glasnow came out at the end of Game 6 to secure the victory for the Dodgers. In doing so, he earned his first career save. Glasnow was the third pitcher in the Dodgers’ rotation, meaning that he would have been the likely starter for Los Angeles in Game 7. But, because of his relief appearance and Ohtani’s dominance at both positions, it’s anyone’s guess who will be the starting pitcher for the Dodgers.
However, because it’s Game 7, anything is on the table. This includes having Ohtani start the game, as Rosenthal’s source would suggest.
Bring on Game 7.
