The Toronto Blue Jays have a lot of things going for them. They were able to bring back Shane Bieber before adding Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce to their starting rotation. Toronto also dipped into the MLB reliever pool to snatch up submariner Tyler Rogers. They have yet to bring in a big bat, but there are several sluggers available in free agency. All of Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette, Cody Bellinger, Eugenio Suarez, Alex Bregman, and Munetaka Murakami are available to sign.
Toronto has put its stamp on the international free agent market. They scooped up a 6-foot-6 pitcher with potential, and they are rolling the dice on a mysterious catcher. More recently, they signed a position player who is “aggressive” with exceptional defensive skills.
However, one major MLB insider has revealed that the Blue Jays could make a huge splash in free agency. At least, regarding Tucker, Bichette, and Bregman, with “all indications” pointing to the Blue Jays signing one of them.
Insider Gives Bold Toronto Blue Jays Prediction
Most of the noise around the Blue Jays has been around Bichette and Tucker. MLB insider Jeff Passan has reported that if anyone could sign both Bichette and Tucker, it’s Toronto.
While making an appearance on the Michael Kay Show, Passan made a bold prediction regarding the Blue Jays.
“I don’t think that the Blue Jays are done. I think they’re going to get a big bat,” Passan said on the December 19th episode. “I’m not sure if that’s Kyle Tucker, or Alex Bregman, or Bo Bichette, or maybe multiple of them. But I think the Blue Jays right now are in a position where they are willing to spend.”
“They feel they have a window here and they’re going to take advantage of Vladimir Guerrero’s prime years and the team that pushed the Dodgers to the precipice in the World Series last year.”
Bregman hasn’t been connected to the Blue Jays much this winter. It’s hard to ignore the offensive impact of the third baseman.
According to Savant, Bregman has the 10th-best batting run value among this crop of free agents. On FanGraphs, his 125 wRC+ was fourth-best on the Boston Red Sox in the 2025 season.
While it’s excellent news that Toronto is in the mix for Bregman, another report surfaced that should put some speculation to bed.
‘All Indications’ Blue Jays Land Kyle Tucker
The Blue Jays have been linked to Tucker and Bichette since the beginning of the offseason. While their link to Bichette is obvious, the connection to Tucker is less obvious.
However, a new report has pointed to the Blue Jays landing Tucker. Additionally, the report includes a potential timeline for when the deal could happen.
“Sources: Blue Jays remain ‘confident’ they will land FA Star OF Kyle Tucker this offseason,” X account MoccBomb wrote on December 19, 2025. “Some in the industry think he could sign before Christmas with Blue Jays. Nothing is finalized at this point, but all indications are Blue Jays will land him. Perfect fit in that lineup and in that outfield. AL East is loaded.”
Busy “Trade Frenzy” Friday
Speaking of MoccBomb, this MLB insider linked the Pittsburgh Pirates to Brandon Lowe on December 10th. Fast-forward to Friday, December 19th, and Lowe was involved in a frenzy of trading that day.
Lowe was involved in a massive three-team trade between the Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, and Houston Astros. The Pirates scored Lowe, Mason Montgomery, and Jake Mangum. Jacob Melton and Anderson Brito landed with the Rays, while starting pitcher Mike Burrows was sent to the Astros.
The Rays were involved in another big trade on the same day. They sent ace Shane Baz to the Baltimore Orioles. In exchange, they received Slater de Brun, Caden Bodine, Michael Forret, and Austin Overn.
Sadly for the Blue Jays, a potential reliever fit with the organization was also traded. The Kansas City Royals acquired lefty Matt Strahm for Jonathan Bowlen.
Considering that Christmas Day is less than a week away, there should be even more activity in the MLB. And, if recent reports are to be believed, Tucker and one of Bichette & Bregman should be added to the Blue Jays roster.
