Blue Jays Get Damning News on Pursuit of Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette

The Toronto Blue Jays were handed some bad news on their pursuit of Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette.

Toronto has been linked to Tucker and Bichette as the Blue Jays are looking to add an impact bat to the lineup. With Tucker and Bichette still being unsigned, there were reports that the Blue Jays could land both Tucker and Bichette.

However, on Tuesday, MLB insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com appeared on MLB Network and said the Blue Jays won’t be able to land both of them.

“I think Kyle Tucker is the first domino that needs to fall,” Feinsand said. “Tucker has a big market, and the Blue Jays are very into him. There are other teams, the Yankees, Mets, and Dodgers. …  The only thing that I don’t see is Toronto getting Tucker and Bichette. If Tucker goes somewhere else, then maybe Bichette returns to Toronto.”

Although the Blue Jays have been linked to both Tucker and Bichette, Feinsand doesn’t see a scenario Toronto signs both of them.

And, if Feinsand is accurate, Tucker is expected to sign first. So Bichette’s future in Toronto could be decided once Tucker signs.

Tucker hit .266 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs last season. Bichette, meanwhile, hit .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs last season.

Tucker & Bichette Get New Contract Predictions

Tucker and Bichette are two of the top free agents available, and both will be in line for lucrative long-term deals.

ESPN MLB insider Kiley McDaniel updated his contract predictions and has Tucker signing an 11-year, $418 million deal with deferrals.

“Though they are different types of players, comparing Tucker’s free agency to Juan Soto’s last year isn’t outrageous because of the hitters’ ability to take walks and not strike out,” the article read. “Tucker committed to swinging at better pitches a couple of years ago. And the results have come. His 1.00 walk-to-strikeout percentage over the past two seasons is in line with Soto. …

“That ability, combined with his slug, has him in a rare class with Soto and perhaps Mookie Betts before he signed his 12-year, $365 million deal with the Dodgers. Despite a late-season calf injury, Tucker also stole 25 bases last year, which is reminiscent of Soto, who stole 38 in 2025.”

McDaniel, meanwhile, predicts Bichette will sign a five-year, $150 million deal this offseason.

“Bichette is also a couple of years younger than Adames, putting him more in line age-wise with Carlos Correa, who signed a six-year, $200 million contract after a 4.6 fWAR season with Minnesota in 2022,” the article added.

Tucker will be in line for a bigger payday, and he’s expected to sign first. So, the Blue Jays will have the option between the two, it appears.

Blue Jays Owner Wants Team to Remain Competitive

Toronto made it to the World Series last season, and the team is looking to build off that.

The Blue Jays have been active this offseason, as the focus has been on pitching. Blue Jays owner Edward Rogers said that the goal is to continue to have a competitive team.

“I’d say what we saw through the playoffs was that Bo performed well through the World Series run,” Rogers said to Toronto Star’s Gregor Chisholm. “But so many of our players came up, and I find te,ams that have deep bonds, obviously the stars shine. But a lot of other people need to shine to be a competitive team. And we have amazing depth.”

Toronto has the sixth-best odds of winning the World Series.
