Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix didnât hold back when talking about RJ Harveyâs breakout stretch.
As Yahoo Sports noted, Nix went straight into praise, calling the rookie âvery multiple,â âhard to tackle,â and a player who is âjust really starting to get it.âÂ
After Harvey posted 100 yards from scrimmage in Denverâs win over the Raiders, Nix highlighted everything from his contact balance to his growth in the mental side of the game.Â
âHe can do so many different things and do them well,â Nix said
âHeâs really not having a whole lot of mental errors. Heâs just playing and doing his job at a high level.âÂ
For a rookie that was thrusted into the spotlight after J.K. Dobbinsâ injury, Nixâs high praise is extremely meaningful and shows a ton of confidence in the rookie.Â
Nixâs Growing Belief in HarveyÂ
Harvey has taken on a much larger role as the Broncos new starting RB as they continue to adjust without Dobbins.Â
Against the Raiders, Harvey had his highest snap count of the season while delivering his most complete game as a runner.
His workload has climbed from 14 touches to 16 to 23 over the last three weeks.Â
Nix emphasized how naturally Harvey has handled the jump.Â
âHe ran the ball very hard today,â Nix said. âHe had a few plays where he sat on his feet after contact.âÂ
That physicality and balance are exactly what Sean Payton saw when Denver drafted him.Â
âWe drafted the runner⦠we saw enough his senior year,â Payton said, noting that while Harvey is shorter than a typical feature back, heâs âput together wellâ with âreally good contact balance.âÂ
The Broncos didnât expect Dobbinsâ season-ending injury, but they did expect Harvey to be ready when the moment came.Â
It was the reason the Broncos used a second round pick on him. Heâs now proving them right.
Despite having limited snaps all season, he leads all rookies in touchdowns with nine.Â
Nixâs confidence mirrors the coaching staffâs, and Harveyâs rise has arrived just at the right time.Â
Broncos Continue to Trust Harvey in Big Spots
Every week that the Broncos have increased Harveyâs workload, the better he has played.Â
He played 68% of offensive snaps last week which is a huge increase from his 28% in Week 10.Â
Payton has repeatedly praised his maturity, saying âRJ Harvey is growing up quick,â and emphasizing how his toughness and balance translate on critical downs.Â
His run after absorbing a massive hit from Jamal Adams on a check-down showed exactly why his teammates trust him.Â
He stayed upright, turned what should have been a negative play into a positive gain, and delivered the kind of moment that earns respect in a locker room.Â
Veterans have taken notice, too.Â
Offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey said Harvey âplayed his a** off,â especially as Denver leaned on him to close out drives and get into the end zone.Â
Harveyâs ability to produce both on the ground and through the air gives Nix a reliable outlet.Â
With more usage and opportunity, the rookie continues to reward that trust in high-leverage situations.Â
For a Broncos team pushing toward the postseason, Harveyâs rise has become a huge offensive boost.Â
Payton said last week, âYou havenât seen anything yet,â and Nixâs postgame praise made it clear he sees the same trajectory.
Harvey isnât just filling in for the injured Dobbins, heâs becoming the center piece of Denverâs offense.
