Bo Nix Doesn’t Hold Back on Broncos’ New Rising Star

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix didn’t hold back when talking about RJ Harvey’s breakout stretch.

As Yahoo Sports noted, Nix went straight into praise, calling the rookie “very multiple,” “hard to tackle,” and a player who is “just really starting to get it.”

After Harvey posted 100 yards from scrimmage in Denver’s win over the Raiders, Nix highlighted everything from his contact balance to his growth in the mental side of the game.

“He can do so many different things and do them well,” Nix said

“He’s really not having a whole lot of mental errors. He’s just playing and doing his job at a high level.”

For a rookie that was thrusted into the spotlight after J.K. Dobbins’ injury, Nix’s high praise is extremely meaningful and shows a ton of confidence in the rookie.

Nix’s Growing Belief in Harvey

Harvey has taken on a much larger role as the Broncos new starting RB as they continue to adjust without Dobbins.

Against the Raiders, Harvey had his highest snap count of the season while delivering his most complete game as a runner.

His workload has climbed from 14 touches to 16 to 23 over the last three weeks.

Nix emphasized how naturally Harvey has handled the jump.

“He ran the ball very hard today,” Nix said. “He had a few plays where he sat on his feet after contact.”

That physicality and balance are exactly what Sean Payton saw when Denver drafted him.

“We drafted the runner… we saw enough his senior year,” Payton said, noting that while Harvey is shorter than a typical feature back, he’s “put together well” with “really good contact balance.”

The Broncos didn’t expect Dobbins’ season-ending injury, but they did expect Harvey to be ready when the moment came.

It was the reason the Broncos used a second round pick on him. He’s now proving them right.

Despite having limited snaps all season, he leads all rookies in touchdowns with nine.

Nix’s confidence mirrors the coaching staff’s, and Harvey’s rise has arrived just at the right time.

Broncos Continue to Trust Harvey in Big Spots

Every week that the Broncos have increased Harvey’s workload, the better he has played.

He played 68% of offensive snaps last week which is a huge increase from his 28% in Week 10.

Payton has repeatedly praised his maturity, saying “RJ Harvey is growing up quick,” and emphasizing how his toughness and balance translate on critical downs.

His run after absorbing a massive hit from Jamal Adams on a check-down showed exactly why his teammates trust him.

He stayed upright, turned what should have been a negative play into a positive gain, and delivered the kind of moment that earns respect in a locker room.

Veterans have taken notice, too.

Offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey said Harvey “played his a** off,” especially as Denver leaned on him to close out drives and get into the end zone.

Harvey’s ability to produce both on the ground and through the air gives Nix a reliable outlet.

With more usage and opportunity, the rookie continues to reward that trust in high-leverage situations.

For a Broncos team pushing toward the postseason, Harvey’s rise has become a huge offensive boost.

Payton said last week, “You haven’t seen anything yet,” and Nix’s postgame praise made it clear he sees the same trajectory.

Harvey isn’t just filling in for the injured Dobbins, he’s becoming the center piece of Denver’s offense.
