The former Champion Hurdle king looked back to his best after being forced to miss last year’s Festival through illness.
Lossiemouth never looked to be travelling well at Kempton and Mullins’ camp are said to be quietly confident they can reverse form over a stiffer test.
That theory could be put to the test at a star-studded Trials Day after those two big names were among six entered in the Grade 2 contest.
But bookies are firmly of the opinion Constitution Hill will be borderline unbeatable.
One firm opened at 1-5 for Hendo’s hero, while Coral went a slightly more generous 1-4.
The firm’s John Hill said: “We could be set for round two of Constiution Hill vs Lossiemouth on Saturday, and we make the former Champion Hurdle winner the warm favourite to prevail once again.
“Constitution Hill is already as short as 4-7 for the Champion Hurdle, and if he produces another spectacular performance here, he could well go off at long odds-on for the feature race on day one of the Festival.”
However, the race could cut up even more should Lossiemouth take up her engagement at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Rich Ricci’s wondermare is 6-4 for the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown the following weekend.
