‘Bought Me A Juicer’: $75 Million Eagles WR Makes Hilarious Confession

It’s been a week of self-reflection and looking inward for the Philadelphia Eagles following a loss to the Chicago Bears on Black Friday.

Philadelphia’s second consecutive loss dropped the defending Super Bowl champions  to 8-4 overall headed into a Week 14 Monday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Behind the scenes, it’s been a week of team-only meetings and calls to “stop the finger pointing” and even head coach Nick Sirianni becoming more involved with the offense … which only led to more questions as to what he was doing before this?

One person who seemed unfazed — in the most hilarious way — was star wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

Smith spent the mini bye week following the loss getting acclimated with his new juicer.

“So you know what’s interesting? I bought me a juicer,” Smith told reporters in a video posted to the Eagles’ official Instagram account. “And I’ve been squeezing oranges, apples, and pineapples for the past four days. And let me tell you something: It’s amazing. The best orange and apple juice I’ve ever had is when I squeeze my own. So that’s what I’ve been doing since the Black Friday game. Squeezing fruit.”

Owning Juicers: Frustrating and Expensive For Most

As anyone who has ever owned a juicer realizes, sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, because you get so little juice out of any single piece of fruit. It’s costly.

For Smith, who signed a 3-year, $75 million contract before the 2024 season, the financial hurdles of becoming an expert juicer don’t exist. Squeeze away.

Smith said apple juice was his favorite, and also the most difficult to derive juice from.

“Honestly, the orange, I get a good little bit (of juice),” Smith said. “It’s the apples. You gotta buy like a hundred apples just to fill up a jar but it’s worth it.”

Eagles Need Smith to Get Offense Going Again

Smith’s success is key to the Eagles shaking off a 2-game losing streak and getting et up for another playoff run.

The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner and No. 10 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft is one half of arguably the NFL’s elite wide receiver duo with A.J. Brown — when the Eagles are able to get them the ball.

“It has been a rough two weeks for the Eagles, who have dealt with two straight losses to the Dallas Cowboys and the Bears,” Inside the Iggles’ Anthony Miller wrote on Saturday, December 6. “The team is looking for any edge it can get, and Smith hopes to have the key in his new juicer. Smith has had a quiet last three weeks, catching 12 passes for 145 yards combined. A lot of that has been the offense’s struggles and missed opportunities, including Smith having a potential touchdown on the Bears if Jalen Hurts hadn’t thrown it behind him.”

Smith still leads the Eagles with 60 receptions for 802 yards and 3 touchdowns in 12 games. Which means he is still on track to have his first 1,000-yard receiving season since 2023.

The last time Smith faced the Chargers was in a 27-24 loss in Week 9 of the 2021 season — Smith lit the Bolts up for 5 receptions for 116 yards and 1 touchdown.
