Braves Get Promising News in Pursuit of All-Star Pitcher

The Atlanta Braves disappointed in a big way during the 2025 season. After entering the season with high expectations, the Braves finished the year with a very underwhelming 76-86 record. With this, the Braves missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.

Now, after a very tough 2025 season, the Braves’ goal in 2026 will certainly be to bounce back. Because of this, they have already been quite busy this offseason. They notably brought in multiple new players, like outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, reliever Robert Suarez, and reliever Ian Hamilton. They also re-signed closer Raisel Iglesias and infielder Ha-Seong Kim, so there is no question that the Braves have been active.

Yet, with the offseason still being young, it is well-known that the Braves are continuing to look to bolster their roster ahead of the 2026 season. One of their biggest needs is another impactful starting pitcher, and they have been linked to top free agent Ranger Suarez this winter because of it.

Now, the Braves have gotten a promising new update on the possibility of them winning the Suarez sweepstakes that should make their fans feel optimistic.

Braves Predicted to Sign All-Star Pitcher Ranger Suarez

In a recent article for Just Baseball, Ryan Finkelstein predicted where each top MLB free agent will sign this offseason. When it came to Suarez, Finkelstein went with the Braves due to their need for another impactful starter.

“The Braves could use a steady presence in the middle of their rotation, and also could use a second lefty to pair with Chris Sale. Likely priced out of the market for Framber Valdez, the Braves can shoot for Suarez, looking to poach from a division rival,” Finkelstein wrote.

With Suarez being one of the top remaining MLB free agent pitchers, it is understandable that he is being viewed as a prime target for the Braves. If they successfully signed Suarez, he would immediately give their rotation a much-needed boost.

Suarez is a pitcher whom the Braves know well, too, as he has spent each of the last eight seasons as a member of their division rival, the Philadelphia Phillies. Thus, successfully signing him and stealing him from the Phillies would be extra sweet for the Braves.

Suarez Should Generate a Ton of Interest Around the League

With Suarez being one of the best pitchers on the market, there is no question that the Braves will have a lot of competition to land his services. Teams in need of pitching help should have Suarez on their radar, as he has been a solid pitcher in the league for multiple seasons now.

In 26 games this past season with the Phillies, Suarez had a 12-8 record, a 3.20 ERA, and a career-high 151 strikeouts. This was after he had a 12-8 record, a 3.46 ERA, and 145 strikeouts during his All-Star season with the Phillies in 2024.

With all of this, there is no question that Suarez would be a great addition to the Braves’ roster if they successfully signed him. Let’s see if they can end up doing just that from here.
