The Atlanta Braves have been active this offseason, but there is still work to do if they want to compete with some of the National League’s top contenders (Dodgers, Brewers, Cubs, Mets, Phillies). The Braves have already addressed parts of their pitching staff by adding multiple relievers. Atlanta’s biggest splash was signing Robert Suarez to a $45 million deal, and then making value additions in Joel Payamps and Ian Hamilton.
However, despite the initial aggression in free agency, the Braves still need to do more. Nothing has been done to this point to address the starting rotation, which is considered to be a big concern heading into 2026, if the Braves’ arms are unable to stay healthy. A recent prediction has the Braves doing a little poaching by signing Ranger Suarez to a $110 million contract.

Braves Predicted to Sign Ranger Suarez to $110 Million Deal
It’s unclear at this moment what is going on with top free agent Ranger Suarez’s free agency. It seems to be wide open, with the Phillies being unlikely to retain their all-star starter. That means it could be anyone’s game across MLB if they extend Suarez the right contract offer. He is considered to be the second-best available pitcher behind Framber Valdez.
A recent prediction by SportsGrid.com has the Atlanta Braves winning the Ranger Suarez sweepstakes by signing him to a five-year, $110 million deal with an AAV of $22 million:

GettyThe Braves have gotten some good news about their pursuit of Ranger Suarez.
“Atlanta could benefit from adding a stabilizing arm in the middle of its rotation, particularly a second left-hander to complement Chris Sale. With Framber Valdez likely commanding a price tag beyond Atlantaâs comfort zone, Suárez emerges as a far more attainable alternative, and one the Braves could pursue aggressively, even if it means prying him away from a division rival.”

The Braves Are Familiar With Ranger Suarez
The Braves should be very familiar with former Phillies starter Ranger Suarez, as he’s spent his entire career to this point in Philadelphia.
He blossomed onto the scene as a starter in 2022 and has been one of the more consistent and durable arms ever since. Since 2022, he’s made 20+ starts in every season.
In 2025, Suarez posted a 3.20 ERA over 157.1 innings in what was a dominant Phillies’ rotation.
If the Braves were to add Suarez, it would be a power dynamic shift in the NL East in terms of which team has the best starting rotation. Suarez isn’t a high strikeout-rate pitcher, but his finesse arsenal helps him keep the ball on the ground and in the ballpark.
He’s been around the 150 innings mark in each season since 2022, and has hovered around a 3.50-4.00 ERA consistently.
The Ranger Suarez sweepstakes will be one of the biggest storylines to follow as the 2026 MLB season rapidly approaches.
