Breece Hall Shares New Details About Jets Trade Rumors

There were plenty of trade rumors this offseason revolving around New York Jets running back Breece Hall.

He admitted that he heard the noise, but the thing that made Hall feel at ease was a phone call from Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.

“I was seeing it just like everybody else was seeing it. Like I said, if people feel like you’re not doing your job, you’re going to be replaced. It didn’t happen, I’m here. AG called me and told me he wanted me to be here. For me, that meant a lot. I’m here to work, I’m here to do my job, and prove that I deserve to be here,” Hall said on Wednesday, June 11.

Hall said when he first saw all the rumors, he told himself, “Okay, we’ll see what happens.”

Hall revealed that coach Glenn called him and asked, “Breece, do you think I want to trade you?”

“I was like, I don’t know, and he was like ‘Breece, I don’t want to trade you. I want you to be here, you are gonna be here, you’re our running back,” Hall revealed. “That felt really good. Just to sit down with him and have a lot of 1-on-1 conversations and for him to feel me out and to get to know him and everything, it has been cool.”

Hall Discusses Extent of His Injury Issues in 2025

Last year, Hall never looked right. He didn’t pass the eye test, didn’t seem to have his normal explosiveness, was indecisive in the hole, and struggled to consistently make plays.

Hall, 24, finished with 876 rushing yards; he toted the rock 209 times, and he only averaged 4.2 yards per carry. That 4.2 rushing yards per attempt was the lowest mark of Hall’s career in the NFL.

“[The knee injury] was pretty serious. If I could go back [in time], I probably would have taken more time off, but I felt like the team needed me out there. I wanted to be out there, but [expletive,] I feel fine now. God willing, I was able to heal up and be healthy and everything, but I feel great now. So that’s in the past, that was that, and I’m ready to just keep moving forward,” Hall said.

The former Iowa State product wouldn’t get into specific details about his injury, but he did confirm that he didn’t need a procedure or surgery this offseason to fix it.

The Talented Jets RB Is Ready to Prove Who He Is in 2025

Head coach Aaron Glenn has talked all offseason about utilizing all three of his top running backs during the 2025 season.

Hall, a player used to being the top guy, was asked to react to that chatter this offseason about a potential running back by committee.

“I’m not obligated to anything. I’m around a new GM, new coaches, a lot of new faces, so for me, I gotta go prove that I am the guy. That is every day. I feel like my skill set, I’m a three-down back,” Hall said. “We have a great running back room, a lot of healthy competition, but for my mentality is every day I’m going to prove that I am the best back on this roster and one of the best backs in this league. I have a quote on my phone that says, ‘If not me, then who?’ I look at it every morning, and that’s my internal motivation because I am very self-motivated.”

Hall is in a contract year. He is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2026. It’s now or never for the talented back. If he delivers a career season, he will get paid by the Jets or one of the other 31 teams in the league.
