Brewers Reveal Major Jackson Chourio News After Several Missed Games

The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in baseball this season, sitting at 68-44, and have slightly separated themselves in the National League Central with a three-game lead over the Chicago Cubs.

With one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, Milwaukee also has an extremely balanced team where everyone plays their role, and they are good fundamentally

Christian Yelich leads the team in home runs with 21, and Jackson Chourio, who has missed the last six games, has 17 right behind Yelich. Isaac Collins has been a great rookie addition, and Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin have been productive as well.

Jackson Chourio Expected to Miss 2-4 Weeks

According to Todd Rosiak, who covers the Milwaukee Brewers, Chourio’s right hamstring is improving, but his estimated timeline is now 2-4 weeks. The news was announced before the team’s Tuesday night contest against the Atlanta Braves. Chourio injured his hamstring about a week ago and has been on the 10-Day Injured List, but with those 10 days coming up soon, he is not going to return when he’s able.

He is an essential piece to this Brewers offense, and they likely want him to be fully healthy before activating him. This is just Chourios’ second MLB season, and he is having no sophomore slump. After bursting onto the scene in 2024 and finishing 3rd in NL Rookie of the Year voting, Chourio has had a nearly identical 2025 campaign and remains one of the Brewers’ best offensive players. In 106 games this season, Chourio has 17 home runs, 29 doubles, and an OPS of .785. He’s hitting .276 with an OPS of 119.

In over 140 games last year, Chourio hit .275 with 21 home runs, 29 doubles, an OPS of .791, and an OPS+ of 119. Now he is certainly on pace to amass all of those stellar rookie numbers, but with the nagging hamstring injury, he may not return until early September.  The Brewers also got out ahead of his contract situation and signed Chourio to an eight-year, $82 million extension before even taking one Major League at-bat.

The Brewers Are Still Rolling

Despite missing Chourio in the lineup for the last six games, and rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski also being placed on the Injured List, the Milwaukee Brewers have still won their last four games and aim to win the NL Central for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Hamstring issues can sometimes take months to fully recover, so this is relatively good news for the Brewers, who are certainly hopeful Chourio will return at full strength for an October run. They won the NL Central last season, but were heartbroken in the NL Wild Card round by the New York Mets. This season, they are aiming for the National League’s top seed and avoiding the very position they were in last season.

Blake Perkins has replaced Chourio in the outfield at this point, and that will likely continue as Perkins has been able to produce to some degree. Over 15 games this season, Perkins is hitting .244 with an OPS just over .800.
