Brighton are still looking for their first win of the Premier League season and will hope to find it when they host Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

A draw with Fulham on the opening day was followed by defeat at Everton in what has been a disappointing start to the campaign.

However, there was a boost in the Carabao Cup in midweek as the Seagulls romped to a 6-0 win over Oxford United.

Manchester City looked excellent as they hammered Wolves 4-0 in their opening fixture but a 2-0 loss at home to Tottenham last time out was a setback.

Pep Guardiola’s side struggled against Brighton last season losing at the Amex and being held to a draw at the Etihad.

However, the previous six meetings provided five wins for City and one draw.

Sunday is a busy day in the Premier League as Nottingham Forest host West Ham at the same time as this game, followed by Liverpool vs Arsenal and then Aston Villa taking one Crystal Palace.

What the managers have said

Fabian Hurzeler on beating Man City last season: ‘For sure (the win) highly ranks because I always emphasis Pep is the best, maybe the best in the world.

‘It is always an honour to play against him and of course a joy to beat his teams.

‘I think a different game on Sunday, a different team we will face and different phases.

‘We are in a different stage, they are in a different stage and of course you can take a lot of positive things from these games but of course it is important to stay humble after these wins.

‘It is not one game that makes a difference, it is the consistency that makes a difference.

‘It will be a new challenge, a new opportunity for us to prove ourselves that we can challenge them and that is what we try to go for.’

Pep Guardiola on what gives him confidence: ‘The way we train and compete. There are signs. I saw things in the games we played in USA and what did in the training sessions I like.

‘After we won six Premier League in last eight years. When we start we never know if we’re going to win the Premier League but I see things I like even against Spurs.

‘There are things I would like to do much, much better but that’s normal at this stage of the season.’
