Broncos Defense Sends Warning to Giants QB Jaxson Dart

The debate over which team has the best defensive front in the NFL has essentially boiled down to 2 teams — the New York Giants and the Denver Broncos.

What better way to settle said debate than by having the 2 teams square off in Week 7 in Denver?

The Broncos are winners of 3 straight and the Giants are coming off their first signature win in only God knows how long against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.

What better way to settle the debate than by seeing which team pummels the other’s quarterback into the turf more often and with more viciousness?

In this case, that means a bad day for one or both of 2 of the NFL’s most exciting young quarterbacks with Broncos starter and 2024 first round pick Bo Nix and Giants starter and 2025 first round pick Jaxson Dart.

Dart has taken the NFL by storm in his first 4 starts over the last month after former Broncos starter Russell Wilson was benched in favor of the No. 25 overall pick.

Since Dart took over for Wilson, the Giants have gone 2-1 and are now 2-4 overall.

The Broncos, who also can claim a signature win this season over the Eagles, are 4-2.

For the Broncos, who are on pace to lead the NFL in sacks for the second consecutive season, Dart’s success and style of play have not gone unnoticed.

Broncos Edge Rusher: Dart “Feeling Himself”

It’s hard not to notice Dart by the way he plays — an electric thrower and runner who plays like a young Steve Young and acts like a young Jim McMahon.

The Broncos appear to have been watching along with everyone else.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s a young guy,” Broncos edge rusher Jonathon Cooper said on October 15. “He’s feeling himself a little bit. He’s out there running around, he’s got the chain on, he’s dancing. I feel like everybody needs something, so … we’ve went against QBs who have ran around in the pocket and have tried to do stuff with their legs, so, ain’t nothing we haven’t seen.”

Dart most definitely does like to make plays with his legs.

His first NFL touchdown in his first start came on a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter of an upset win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. Through his first 3 starts, he has 30 carries for 167 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Dart One of 2 First Round Picks for Giants in 2025

If the Giants turn into NFC contenders over the coming years, the foundation will have likely been built in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

That’s when the Giants landed what should be foundational players on both sides of the ball, taking Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter at No. 3 overall and Dart at No. 25 overall.

One of only 2 quarterbacks taken in the first round alongside No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward to the Tennessee Titans, Dart played his way into a top pick with a bravura last season at Ole Miss in 2024, when he had career highs across the board with 4,279 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 6 interceptions to go with 495 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.
