Bo Nix did not mince words after his historic performance in the Denver Broncos’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 17.
The Broncos were heavy favorites in the contest, facing a depleted Chiefs team, even in a diminished state themselves. That made the 20-13 final score rather surprising, particularly since the Chiefs have already been eliminated from postseason contention.
The victory was a fitting capper to a historic showing for Nix.

Nix finished with 182 passing yards, his sixth-fewest in a game this season, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception on 68.4% completion in the Broncos’ win over the Chiefs in Week 17. Nix noted how the Chiefs’ defensive game plan was the “exact opposite” of what he expected.
Now, the Broncos will prepare to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18. LA is facing the Houston Texans, whom the Broncos defeated in Week 9, this week.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said he will be interested in that game. Nix was indifferent.
“At the end of the day, none of it really matters. Because we have to play the final game, and we have to take care of it. And they’re going to be a good football team. Now, some other team could help us along the way. But at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to us versus them,” Nix told reporters after the game on December 25
“We’re excited to have them at home. It’s going to be a really good environment. It’s going to be a great atmosphere. And honestly, it’s playoff time, it’s playoff atmosphere.”
Nix has led the Broncos to double-digit wins in back-to-back seasons to begin his career.
However, the Chargers are not among them, leaving the former No. 12 overall pick looking to check yet another accomplishment off his rapidly growing list 33 games (34 including the playoffs) into his Broncos tenure and professional career.
“I know it’s going to be tough,” Nix said of the Chargers, noting he is winless against them in his career. “It’s going to be a good nine days of preparation. And then on the 10th day, it’s all you got for four quarters, or however long it takes. And so, we’re excited about it, and it’ll be good to have rest also. So, it’ll be a good, long weekend for us.”
Bo Nix’s Big Night

Nix reordered the record books in several ways during the win, drawing nearer to one former Broncos QB and following another into an exclusive club.
“Nix has the 2nd-most wins by a QB in their first two seasons in the NFL. Bo has 23 wins,” SDNVR’s Zac Stevens posted on X on December 25. “Bo is one win away from tying the all-time record (24) currently held by Russell Wilson.”
Per Stevens, Nix “joined Peyton Manning and Justin Herbert as the only QBs in NFL history to have 3,500 passing yards and 25 passing TDs in each of their first two seasons in the NFL.”
Some of Nix’s feats put him on par with a Hall of Famer.
“Nix’s 54 career passing TDs is the 3rd-most in NFL history by a player in his first two seasons in the league,” Stevens said in a third post. “Bo only trails Justin Herbert and Dan Marino.”
Bo Nix ‘Super Proud’ of Long-Time Teammate

Nix got an opportunity to renew a connection he has had since college, with former Oregon Ducks teammate Alex Forsyth stepping in for the injured Luke Wattenberg. Moreover, it allowed Forsyth to atone for his performance in the Broncos’ Week 10 loss to the Chiefs last season.
He did that, earning a game ball for his efforts.
“I’m super proud of him. Nobody prepares–I would say nobody prepares more in this league than he does. I think he is one of the most in-depth preparers I’ve ever seen. And it’s awesome to play behind him. I knew going into this game that he wasn’t going to leave a stone unturned, and he prepares like no other, and he’s going to do his best to put the team in the best chance of succeeding,” Nix said.
“We all know what happened here last year and how much it hurt him and how much it meant to him. I think it’s just sort of a God-wink that he got to come back here and start and play the full game, and we get our first win here in a long time. And so, I think he has earned that, and he’s definitely well deserving of that game ball.”
