Browns Add Another Ravens Coach After Todd Monken Hires Travis Switzer as OC

The Cleveland Browns took a while to find their new head coach after firing Kevin Stefanski, but they surprisingly landed on former Baltimore Ravens‘ offensive coordinator Todd Monken when all was said and done. Now, Monken is assembling his coaching staff, and he is continuing to steal coaches from his former team’s staff.

Monken is reportedly going to hire the Ravens’ run game coordinator, Travis Switzer, to be his offensive coordinator, but he isn’t the only coach who will be following Monken from Baltimore to Cleveland. According to reports, it sounds like one of the team’s offensive assistants, Danny Breyer, will also be joining Monken and taking on a bigger role with the Browns.

Browns Hire Danny Breyer to Fill Pass Game Coordinator Role

Cleveland’s search for a head coach was a bit odd, as several candidates removed themselves from the running for the position, which resulted in folks struggling to identify a true frontrunner for the job. Monken eventually ended up winning the job, which was a surprise, as many folks expected Browns’ defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to eventually get hired.

With no offensive, defensive, or special teams coordinator in place, Monken had to move quickly to begin filling out his coaching staff. The first order of business appears to be hiring Switzer, who has worked alongside Monken in Baltimore for the past three seasons. And now, it looks like Breyer will be joining the fun, too.

Similar to Switzer, Breyer has spent the past three seasons with the Ravens, working as an offensive assistant. Now, he’s set for his first big promotion in the world of coaching, as it appears he will be hired by the Browns to join their offensive staff and work as their pass game coordinator for the 2026 campaign.

“The Browns are expected to hire Ravens offensive assistant Danny Breyer as pass game coordinator, sources tell CBS Sports,” Matt Zenitz reported in a post on X. “Has been in Baltimore the last three years, working closely with a tight end unit that’s included players like Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.”

Todd Monken Still Has Work to do with His Coaching Staff

It’s safe to say that the offensive coaching staff is coming together, but the rest of the picture still needs some filling in. Schwartz appears unlikely to stick around as Cleveland’s defensive coordinator after getting passed over for the head coach job, so once that situation gets sorted out, Monken is likely going to have to begin working on finding his replacement.

The first moves are certainly encouraging, though, as it’s always good to see coaches who are familiar with each other continue working together as they embark on new journeys. Monken’s hiring has certainly been a bit controversial, but he deserves to be given time to figure things out. As a result, all eyes will be on him as he continues to bring in new coaches to join his staff with the Browns.
