The Cleveland Browns have already been sellers ahead of the NFL trade deadline early next month, and more moves are likely on the way.
Cleveland has already dealt former first-round pick and cornerback Greg Newsome II and former starting quarterback Joe Flacco during the season, while the Browns shipped off QB Kenny Pickett just days ahead of Week 1. Recent Pro Bowlers like offensive guard Wyatt Teller and tight end David Njoku could also be on the move, as the team is off to a 1-5 start and will probably roll out an offense led by one rookie quarterback or another for the remainder of 2025.
But the biggest question is whether Cleveland might consider trading superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett. One team that could potentially be in the mix is the Dallas Cowboys.
“Only a team offering three first-round picks for Garrett would make the Browns even begin to start crunching the numbers, and the Dallas Cowboys likely won’t do that,” Zac Jackson of The Athletic wrote on Wednesday, October 15. “Garrett spent the end of last season and the start of the offseason telling the truth about the state of the Browns and saying he wanted to play for a contender, but then he chose to sign a new deal that likely will keep him in Cleveland at least for the next three seasons — and potentially for the rest of his career.”
Myles Garrett Doesn’t Fit Well With Browns’ Rebuild Timeline

Cleveland technically extended Garrett on a $160 million deal that keeps him under contract through 2030.
That said, Garrett will also play next year at 30 years old and doesn’t necessarily fit the Browns’ current timeline. Cleveland is starting five rookies already and has two first-round picks in 2026 to potentially go after one of the top QBs in next year’s class.
So while the team refused to acquiesce to Garrett’s trade demands during the offseason, a motivated buyer could change the Browns’ mind with an offer like three first-rounders.
Cowboys Could See Logic in Trading for Myles Garrett After Parting Ways With Micah Parsons

Dallas is potentially motivated in that sort of way after dealing Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Kenny Clark.
The Cowboys’ offense has been a juggernaut thus far in 2025, even without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for an extended period of time, and quarterback Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level. Still, Dallas is 2-3-1 because its defense is among the worst in the NFL.
Whether owner Jerry Jones will ever admit it, moving on from Parsons was clearly a mistake. But if he could rectify that error by using the two first-rounders Green Bay sent for Parsons and adding one more future first in the process, the Cowboys would end up with one of the few edge rushers in the league who may actually be better at his job than Parsons.
Garrett is a few years older, but he’s also cheaper (despite being incredibly expensive in his own right). The move is unlikely, as Jackson noted, but it could work for both sides and so shouldn’t be discarded as entirely implausible or impossible to achieve.
