Browns Dispute Signing Isaiah Bond After Announcement

Isaiah Bond announced that he’s signed with the Cleveland Browns, although the team is not ready to make it official with the undrafted rookie.

Bond was arrested in April after a woman alleged a non-consensual encounter. Some had Bond projected as a mid-round pick but he went undrafted as teams awaited the case’s outcome.

Bond turned himself in to Frisco police on a sexual assault warrant in April and was released on $25,000 bond. After reviewing the evidence, a grand jury returned a no-bill — declining to indict — on Thursday, clearing the way for him to sign immediately with any team as an undrafted free agent.

Shortly after it was announced that he wouldn’t be charged, Bond released a statement saying he had signed with the Browns.

“First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Cleveland Browns for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to continue my career in the NFL,” Bond said. “Football has been my passion since I was six years old, and playing at this level is a blessing I will never take for granted. I understand that playing in the NFL is a privilege, and I’m thankful every day to live my childhood dream.

“Learning this offense, building strong relationships with my teammates, and making significant contributions within the Cleveland community. I’m determined to prove the Browns organization and everyone who believes in me right for putting their trust in me.”

Browns Doing ‘Diligence’ on Isaiah Bond Signing

Bond is expected to join Cleveland, though the move isn’t official yet, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com. The Browns are still completing their due diligence before finalizing the signing.

“A source said the Browns, who liked Bond throughout the 2025 pre-draft process and have been monitoring him since, are still doing some diligence on the speedy wideout before a final decision is made,” Cabot said.

The Browns have had their fair share of off-field issues this year. That includes a domestic violence allegation involving rookie running back Quinshon Judkins. It was announced on Thursday that Judkins will not face charges for the incident but he remains unsigned and away from the Browns.

Browns players Myles Garrett and Shedeur Sanders have also faced scrutiny for speeding tickets this offseason.

Isaiah Bond Fits Significant Need for Browns

The Browns passed on drafting a wide receiver despite the position being a clear need, leaving the door open for Bond to be a potential steal. He brings a skill set currently missing from the offense, highlighted by his solid route-running and top-tier athleticism.

Bond clocked an impressive 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, showcasing the speed that could make him an immediate difference-maker.

“Fluid, fast and untapped,” NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote in his breakdown of Bond. “Bond played decoy for the betterment of Texas’ offense but clearly has the talent to take on a more focused, productive role. He’s a capable route-runner, has good hands and can play wide or from the slot. An offense should feed him a heavier diet of shallow crossers, deep digs and quick-game throws, allowing him to make magic with the ball in his hands and add to their chunk play total.”

Bond, if signed, will join a wide receiver corps that includes Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman and many others who are battling for spots on the depth chart.
