Browns Make Historic Myles Garrett Announcement During Raiders Game

Myles Garrett continued his tear against the Las Vegas Raiders and made some history along the way.

Garrett recorded three sacks against the Raiders, which brought his season total to 18. With the sacks, Garrett broke his own single-season franchise record of 16, which he accomplished twice in 2021 and 2022.

The Browns celebrated Garrett’s accomplishment with a post on social media.

“One of one,” a post on the Browns’ X account said.

Garrett has the NFL single-season record in his sights. That record is jointly held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt, who both recorded 22.5 sacks.

The Browns pounded Raiders quarterback Geno Smith during the matchup. As a team, Cleveland had 10 sacks of Smith.

Browns Set High Bar for Myles Garrett

Garrett entered the year vowing to deliver the best season of his career — no small promise for a former Defensive Player of the Year. So far, he’s backed it up. Garrett has been borderline unblockable, earning praise from coaches and teammates as he anchors Cleveland’s defense.

Yet ahead of Week 12, defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz insisted the star pass-rusher still hasn’t hit his ceiling, saying there’s another level Garrett can reach as the Browns push deeper into the season.

“Super proud of him for where he is right now, but this isn’t the final story yet,” Schwartz said. “He’s doing a really good job within the scheme and like I’ve told you guys before, I’m always most proud of the way he plays the run as opposed to how he rushes the passer. And there’s a lot to be proud of, the way he rushes the passer. But to have the production he has, with the opportunities he’s had and also with the attention that he receives, it’s fun to watch.”

Browns Star Myles Garrett Focused on Winning

Garrett has piled up sacks in bunches. He had a five-sack performance against the New England Patriots and four against the Baltimore Ravens. But both of those came in losing efforts and the only number Garrett is concerned about is in the win column.,

“I mean, the main thing is winning. However, many I can get on the way to getting a win that’s more or less in the record. It doesn’t matter to me. Like I said, I would trade all the ones I have back against the Patriots to have a win,” Garrett said. “I don’t want to say that to be ungrateful, because I was blessed to get that many, but it’s not that deep to me. I want to go out there and have a good game — I feel like that’s what I can do. That’s what they brought me here for, and I feel like that’s a way in which we can win. You know, me going in and taking over. So, all things come to fruition, and some of my personal goals happened, that’s great. But now I want to go and continue to play after January. That’s the biggest goal.”

The Browns moved to 3-8 with the victory against the Raiders. It’s far from where Garrett wants to be but a step in the right direction for Cleveland.
