Browns’ Myles Garrett Announces Fitting New Deal Immediately After Sack Record

Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett inked a fitting new endorsement deal after setting the NFL single-season sack record against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Garrett took down Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, giving him 23 sacks for the season. The sack gave Garrett sole possession of the single-season record, which was previously held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt.

Right after the game, Jordan Brand announced that Garrett would be joining their family. The graphic read, “23 sacks. No coincidence.”

“That’s one helluva way to join the family,” the post said.

Garrett inked a four-year, $160 million extension with the Browns during the offseason. He has multiple endorsement deals outside of football, including Reebok. He’s also a minority owner and brand ambassador for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Browns DE Myles Garrett Credits Teammates for Record

Garrett expressed confidence in recent weeks when he was just one sack shy of the record. But he admitted that he had a dream that he didn’t get it the night before the game — a reality he didn’t want to live out.

“I had a dream that I didn’t get it,” Garrett said in his postgame media availability. “So I was like, well, (expletive), we’ve got to deny fate, whatever it is, we’ve got to make it happen. And I just went into it and still had the utmost confidence in myself and my preparation and in my guys, man.”

Garrett credited his teammates as he became the NFL’s new sack king.

“It was special,” Garrett said. “I’ve given everything to them. They get my very best every day and I’m so grateful and so glad to have them as teammates. Like I said, it’s a privilege to be with these guys, to go to work with these guys, to bleed, to sweat and to go out with these guys. Man, I couldn’t imagine doing it with a better group of men. Going in, always coming in with a great attitude, working hard and come in with a smile on their faces and they’re never too high, never too low. I’m so proud of this group.”

Browns Coach Stefanski: Myles Garrett Should be MVP

Thanks to his record-setting year, Garrett is a lock to bring home his second Defensive Player of the Year honor, even with the Browns finishing 5-12. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said that Garrett doesn’t deserve just that award but also the MVP.

“That’s history. He’s the sack king. That’s unbelievable,” Stefanski said. “They’ve been playing this game for a long time and for him to go get that in the circumstances with the degree of difficulty in which he got it this season is unbelievable.

“He’s the Defensive Player of the Year. You can make him the MVP if I had a vote.”

Stefanski, Garrett and the Browns enter an offseason of uncertainty after missing the playoffs for the second straight year. Cleveland is expected to make changes to its coaching staff, with Stefanski likely on his way out. And the team will evaluate all quarterback options if it decides not to move forward with Shedeur Sanders.
