Browns’ Myles Garrett Drops 3-Word Declaration Ahead of Ravens Game

The Cleveland Browns are just 2-7 but superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett is not taking his foot off the gas.

Garrett is the favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. He’s tied for the league lead in sacks (11) and leads the NFL in tackles for loss (17). The Browns are a major long shot to make any kind of postseason push, but Garrett still plans to leave it all on the field.

“Whatever it takes,” Garrett wrote in a social media post on Friday.

After the Browns dropped their latest game to the lowly New York Jets — their fifth loss in six outings — Garrett vowed to set the tone down the stretch and do everything he can to keep Cleveland’s faint playoff hopes alive.

“It’s an everyday thing. You continue to have that standard. There’s no checking out, there’s no looking for somewhere to hide or surrendering,” Garrett said. “No, we still have a great opportunity to push ourselves in the playoffs if we do what we need to. If you win out. So just making sure the guys know and understand that, and I’m putting in that same work that with that same effort that we have from the very beginning of the year, you expect the guys to respond.”

Myles Garrett Not Concerned With Personal Accolades

Garrett is within striking distance of breaking the single-season sack record of 22.5. But the six-time Pro Bowler is not worried about his stats. Garrett wants his big plays to propel wins.

“I mean, the main thing is winning. However, many I can get on the way to getting a win that’s more or less in the record. It doesn’t matter to me,” Garrett said. “I want to go out there and have a good game. I feel like that’s what I can do. That’s what they brought me here for, and I feel like that’s a way in which we can win. You know, me going in and taking over. So, all things come to fruition, and some of my personal goals happened, that’s great. But now I want to go and continue to play after January. That’s the biggest goal.”

Garrett has logged double-digit sacks every season since his rookie year, when he played just 11 games. He’s had 14 or more sacks for four straight seasons and is well on pace to add a fifth to that streak.

Browns DE Myles Garrett Looking to Get After Lamar Jackson

Garrett and the Browns’ stout defense face a tall task on Sunday of slowing down Lamar Jackson. The former MVP remains one of the league’s most elusive playmakers, capable of turning broken plays into back-breaking gains. But Jackson has been banged up this season and Garrett emphasized that Cleveland has to take advantage.

“I think he’s been sitting in the pocket a little bit more. Whether that’s because he wants to show off the arm or they’re saying that he’s still, you know, recovering. We got to take advantage of it either way,” Garrett said. “So got to be able to rush and keep him where we want them and be able to take the ball away.”

The Browns are 7.5-point road underdogs in the matchup. Baltimore won the first matchup of the season 41-17, blowing the game open in the season half.
