Browns Player Makes Feelings Clear on 49ers’ Jauan Jennings

The San Francisco 49ers extended their winning streak to three with a 26-8 victory over the Cleveland Browns on November 30 at Huntington Bank Field.

Even with the win, wide receiver Jauan Jennings drew attention after a potential on-field altercation. The incident followed Maliek Collins’ injury, sparking a heated exchange between Jennings and members of the Browns‘ defense.

Shelby Harris criticized Jennings after the game, calling out what he considered unsportsmanlike behavior. Moreover, Harris shared even more details about what the San Francisco wideout said, prompting the Browns players to call him out after the game.

“Most of the time, people will [stay] away from that,” Harris said on the December 2 edition of “We’re the Harrises” (h/t OurSF49ers). “And I don’t care, you can say whatever you want. But the minute you bring up a man’s family, bring up a man’s wife, bring up a man’s kids, any type of sexually explicit thing when it comes to a man’s wife and family, we’re going to have a problem.

“The way I look at that stuff is, you can only say that type of stuff on the football field because, if I retaliate, I lose money, if I do anything about that, my team gets punished. But if you do that on the street, I’ll smack the s–t out of you.”

Browns Players Called Out 49ers’ Jauan Jennings

Following San Francisco’s win, Harris openly called out the 49ers’ wideout for his behavior after the game. He made no effort to soften his words, ensuring everyone understood exactly how he felt about Jennings.

“He’s a h–, and I want that known, Harris said (h/t Camryn Justice of WEWS).” I see why he got punched in the [groin] because he said some things you should never say to another man. But I don’t respect it—saying that and then running behind your O-line is some real soft stuff, and I want that known. I see exactly why they punched him in the [groin]. I’m surprised nobody has punched him in the jaw yet.”

Meanwhile, Myles Garrett didn’t mince words when sharing his thoughts on the situation with Jennings.

“So, he had a lot to say that was demeaning and disparaging towards some of our players, Garrett said (h/t 49ers Web Zone). “And I was just trying to separate everybody. And I tried to go up and ask for what the problem was, and then he started coming at me and, I mean, some guys just roll like that.

“I don’t feel like that belongs in the game. But, hey, if that works for him and them, then more power to him.”

Former NFL Player Defends Jauan Jennings’ Trash Talk

Although Browns players weren’t too happy with Jennings and his method of trash talk, one former NFL player came to his defense. During a December 1 appearance on KNBR, Tim Ryan spoke about how Jennings has this ability to get under opponents’ skin.

“I think part of why people get so agitated with Jauan is because of his style of play, which is as physical as it gets, Ryan said. “It’s not dirty, but he’s going to play ball the way Kyle Shanahan wants him to in terms of his blocking. He’s going to block to the whistle and finish if he’s got you locked up.

“Hell, the referees will even penalize him for legal plays. Remember the Arizona game last year at the end of the season? So I think that’s part of it. And aside from that, Cleveland is probably overreacting with their defensive linemen. But it is what it is, man.”
