Some have suggested that the Cleveland Browns are sabotaging Shedeur Sanders, as he isn’t getting many reps with the first team. Sanders has had a decent training camp so far, perhaps better than some of the other players on the Browns roster. At the very least, he’s been much better than youngster Dillon Gabriel, whom the Browns selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. That was two rounds before Sanders went, who went in the fifth round.
Despite comments from some in the media and the Browns fan base that the team is sabotaging him, others suggest it’s not the case. Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan went on a rant during his show Thursday, pushing back on claims that the team is sabotaging Sanders. He said the Browns are doing everything they can to keep him from breaking down and are putting him in a position to succeed.
âThey are doing everything they can for a guy with the name of Sanders, a star of his caliber,â Carmen said. âTheyâre doing everything they can to provide the fairest shot possible for him. I will take it to my grave, whether itâs in the next minute, the next 30 minutes or the next 30 years, I will take it to my grave and say it right to St. Peterâs face.â
âThey are doing nothing to try to break a quarterback,â Carmen continued. âTheyâre doing nothing to try to break Shedeur Sanders. For anybody out there who is not a real Browns fan who might be listening to this, Iâm telling you right now, shaking as hard as I can, they are not doing anything to try to sabotage or try to break Shedeur Sanders or try to not be fair to Shedeur Sanders.â
Is There a Lack of Love for Shedeur Sanders?
It’s surprising that Sanders isn’t getting much love with the first team, mainly because of how poor the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback room is. However, it’s also possible that the organization could want him to develop for a few years.Â
The Browns understand that over the past few years, their biggest issue has been finding a quarterback. While Sanders might not be that star eventually, he has more of an opportunity to do so than anybody else on the roster.
Browns’ Front Office Selected Shedeur Sanders
There are some other issues that Sanderes and the Cleveland Browns have to consider, and when Jimmy Haslam was speaking about them recently, it didn’t sound like he was too happy with the addition of Sanders.Â
He even stated that the Browns only selected him because general manager Andrew Berry wanted to do that, and he had no part in it.Â
Whether that came off the wrong way or not, it’s fair to wonder whether there’s some truth in many fans thinking that the organization is sabotaging him in some sense.
âListen. We have [a] good process. If youâd have told me Friday night [Day 2 of the draft] driving home, yâall are going to pick Shedeur, I would have said, âThatâs not happening,â â said Haslam, per ESPN. âBut we had a conversation early that morning, and we had a conversation later that day. At the end of the day, thatâs [Browns general manager] Andrew Berryâs call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur.â
