Browns Sign 2 Young Wide Receivers to Active Roster After Cedric Tillman News

The Cleveland Browns made a series of roster moves Tuesday, including signing wide receivers Malachi Corley and Gage Larvadain to the 53-man active roster.

Correspondingly, wide receiver Cedric Tillman was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, sidelining him for at least the next four games. Tillman, 25, had 11 catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns through the first four weeks before exiting early in Sunday’s 34-10 loss to the Detroit Lions with the hamstring injury.

The Browns dropped to 1-3 and will play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday (9:30 a.m. ET) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Preseason Star Joins Browns’ Active Roster

Larvadain is a familiar face in Cleveland. An undrafted free agent from South Carolina, Larvadain made the Browns’ initial 53-man roster after a standout preseason in which he tied for the team lead in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (94) on 17 targets.

Larvadain was waived following Week 1 but opted to stay with organization as a member of the practice squad. With Tillman and DeAndre Carter (knee) both landing on IR, it’s possible Larvadain makes his NFL debut Sunday against the 2-2 Vikings.

In one season at South Carolina, the 5-foot-8, 171-pound Larvadain had 19 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown in 13 games (nine starts). Prior to transferring there, he played at Southeastern Louisiana (2021-22) and Miami of Ohio (2023).

Browns Drop ‘YAC King’

Corley was a third-round pick (65th overall) by the New York Jets in 2024 and appeared in nine games as a rookie. The Western Kentucky product had three catches and 16 yards on nine targets.

He infamously dropped the ball prior to crossing the goal line in a game against the Houston Texans last October, costing himself a touchdown on his first NFL carry. The play went viral on social media.

The self-proclaimed “YAC King,” Corley was waived by the Jets on Aug. 26 as part of their final roster cuts. He had only an 8-yard reception in three preseason games, sealing his fate. The next day, Corley (5-11, 215) joined the Browns’ practice squad. He has yet to appear in a game this season.

Browns Tweak Cornerback Room

The Browns also waived cornerback Cameron Mitchell. Additionally, they signed cornerback Ameer Speed to the practice squad.

The 6-3, 215-pound Speed is in his third season out of Michigan State. A 2023 sixth-round pick (214th overall), Speed has appeared in 15 NFL games with the New England Patriots (2023), Indianapolis Colts (2023) and Chicago Bears (2024). He was waived by the Bears on Aug. 11 with an injury designation after sustaining an undisclosed injury.
