The 2025 NFL season is basically over for the Cleveland Browns, with Myles Garrett and company heading into the Week 16 matchup with the Buffalo Bills sporting a disappointing losing record of 3-11.
Although the 2025 campaign has been forgettable, to say the least, for the Browns, Garrett can make things interesting in the final stretch of the regular season, as he has his sights set on breaking New York Giants legend Michael Strahan’s sack record.
Garrett heads into this matchup with the Bills with 21.5 sacks on the season, and he just needs to get to superstar quarterback Josh Allen once to tie Strahan’s record and twice to break it.

Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bills, Garrett was asked if it would mean something special to break the sack record against the reigning NFL MVP.
“Absolutely,” Garrett said during media availability. “I mean, he’s a gunslinger himself, so he’s the kind of guy, I guess you say Mike [Strahan] got all those years ago. I think it’s a bit of a funny comparison because those guys have similar styles. Me and Mike have been compared before, but it would mean a lot to get it against him because he’s very special. I have a lot of admiration for what he can do with the football.”
Strahan set the record for most sacks in a season against Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre in the final week of the 2001 NFL season, which is why Garrett mentioned the comparison, as the Hall of Famer and Allen do have some similar traits.
Garrett was also asked if there was any “extra juice” with the opportunity to break the sacks record at home on Sunday.
“Yeah, I want to get it in front of the home fans,” Garrett said. “Most of all, I want to get the win. I don’t want it to be some emotional conflict between me getting it and we’re getting our tails whooped or we’re down at the end of the game.
“I want to be able to share in a joyus moment for everybody.”
The Browns will have their work cut out for them when facing one of the best teams in the AFC, with the Bills having the incentive of taking a step closer to clinching a playoff spot and being heavily favored (-10.5) on the road.

The Bills will head into Sunday’s matchup against Garrett and the Browns with the opportunity to clinch a playoff spot. However, Allen and company will not control their own fate, as they’ll need a win over Cleveland as well as either the Houston Texans losing to the Las Vegas Raiders or the Indianapolis Colts falling to the San Francisco 49ers.
It’s highly unlikely that the Texans will get upset by the two-win Raiders, but Philip Rivers and the Colts losing to Brock Purdy’s 49ers is a possible scenario.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for the Bills, but there’s definitely a good chance the team punches its ticket to the postseason this weekend.
