Bruins Fans Keep Trolling Maple Leafs Over Rookie’s Early Success

At the end of last season, Fraser Minten scored one goal in a six-game appearance with the Boston Bruins. So far this season, the 21-year-old center has a goal in four games.

But rest assured that Bruins fans will be sure to let their rivals from Toronto know every time Minten does anything remotely positive on the ice this season.

Just before the trade deadline in March, the Toronto Maple Leafs sent Minten, along with a 2026 first-round draft pick (top five protected), and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick (from Philadelphia), to Boston in exchange for defenseman Brandon Carlo. Minten, a 6-foot-2, 204-pounder selected by Toronto in the second round of the 2022 draft, had played a total of 19 games with the Maple Leafs, 15 of them during the 2024-25 season, but Toronto deemed him expendable to acquire a top four defenseman in Carlo.

And Bruins Nation seems OK with that.

Former Maple Leafs Prospect Fraser Minten Gives Boston Fans Reason to Gloat

In the team’s second game of the season Oct. 9, Minten scored an unassisted goal in overtime to give Boston a 4-3 win. It didn’t take long for the posts trolling Maple Leafs fans to start appearing on X.

“Thanks Toronto,” one commenter simply stated.

“Just want to shout out the Toronto Maple Leafs,” another posted. “Thanks for Fraser Minten.”

“Fraser Minten is going to be another trade that haunts the Toronto Maple Leafs,” a different respondent said.

Especially if Bruins followers have anything to say about it, as indicated by posts highlighting Minten’s efforts in other games.

“Whats the leafs plan for defending against Fraser Minten this year?” one asked. “Kids pretty good.”

“Fraser Minten on the PK must be such a painful sight for Maple Leaf fans,” another stated.

Boston GM Don Sweeney Raves About Maturity of Rookie Fraser Minten

During the postgame show following Minten’s OT winner, Boston general manager Don Sweeney spoke about what the young forward has brought to the team.

“Our scouts had done a lot of work on Fraser. He was in our sights as a draft-eligible player, we just weren’t fortunate enough to be able to select him, but we never lost sight of all the things that, you talk to coaches, you do interviews, you meet the young man, and you realize, he’s a bit mature beyond his years,” Sweeney told NESN. “And his approach to the game, he put himself into position this summer to be training with elite players, gaining weight, gaining strength, while maintaining sort of the confidence that he had built in a year where he played with four different teams. So that’s not an easy thing for any player, let alone a young player, and he put it all in stride, had a plan for himself, worked with our coaches at every level, and was intentional with what he wanted to improve upon, which again, speaks to the fact that he’s mature.”

But Nick Alberga, host and director of “Leafs Morning Take” on The Nation Network, was quick to respond on behalf of the player that Toronto received in the trade.

“He scores yesterday and all of a sudden you see these posts saying ‘Thank you Toronto.’ Well, thank you Boston,” Alberga said. “I think Brandon Carlo’s a guy nobody talks about, but I love that deal and I would do it right now. I think it’s hilarious in the sports world. Oh this guy scored a goal, in the second game of the season. Congratulations. I think Carlo’s a very, very good asset and someone you want in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.”
