Buccaneers Get Shocking Injury News on $155 Million NFL All-Pro

IIs the universe trying to tell the Tampa Bay Buccaneers something about adversity? Through the first 3 games of the NFL regular season, it sure seems like it.

The latest lesson came during a 29-27 win over the New York Jets in Week 3 as the Buccaneers improved to 3-0 with their third consecutive fourth quarter comeback.

Tampa Bay was able to rally without one of their biggest stars after NFL All-Pro wide receiver and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Evans left the game and didn’t return with a hamstring injury.

Evans was visibly upset as he left the sideline, punching a water cooler before limping to the locker room, with another video showing Evans throw his helmet once he got into the tunnel.

“That’s not a mild hamstring strain,” Dr. Jeff Mueller wrote on his official X account. “Anticipating a potential IR stint for Mike Evans coming up due to his age and hamstring history.”

Hearing the words “hamstring injury” and Evans will be sure to cause some extra hand wringing for Buccaneers fans — he missed all of 3 games and almost all of another game with a hamstring injury last season.

“Buccaneers Mike Evans — hamstring injury. His history + age makes this riskier,” Dr. Deepak Chona wrote on his official X account. “The reaction of throwing the helmet suggests he knows we’re looking at missed time.”

Internet Melts Down Over Possible Evans Injury

The thought of possibly losing Evans just one week before NFL All-Pro wide receiver Chris Godwin and NFL All-Pro left offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs are rumored to return from injuries was almost too much to bear for Buccaneers fans.

Which is understandable. The Buccaneers have been going through an incredible run on injuries. On offense, starting guard Cody Mauch suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 after starting 36 consecuive games to start his career. Right offensive tackle Luke Goedeke is on the injured reserve and will miss at least 4 games with a foot injury.

On defense, former first round pick and interior defensive lineman Calijah Kancey suffered a season ending torn pec in Week 2.

Evans had 4 receptions for 33 yards and 1 touchdown against the Jets before his injury and has 10 reception for 107 yards this season.

“There’s Mike Evans‘ annual 1-2 game hamstring injury,” Seth The Bucs Stan wrote on his official X account.

“Mike Evans pulls up lame, heads right off the field, goes down to a knee, and then heads to the Bucs locker room as he gets applause from the Tampa Bay faithful,” NFL reporter and podcaster Jay Recher wrote on his official X account. “Damn… “

Evans Trying To Make NFL History In 2025

Evans, who is in the final season of a 2-year, $41 million contract, will have approximately $155 million in career earnings after this season.

He’s also trying to make NFL history with a 12th consecutive 1,000-yard season, breaking a tie between himself and Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, who still holds NFL career records for receptions (1,549), receiving yards (22,895) and receiving touchdowns (197) 21 years after he last played in the NFL.
