Superstar Caitlin Clark addressed fans of the Indiana Fever and the WNBA on Thursday after suffering the third serious soft-tissue injury of her sophomore season.
Clark missed a five-game stretch earlier this year with a quad strain. She returned for a brief time before sustaining a groin strain that cost her another handful of contests.
Despite all of that, fans remained loyal to one of the best players in women’s basketball and voted Clark an All-Star team captain. The league is holding the All-Star festivities at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis this coming weekend, which happens to be where Clark plays her home games.
However, after another short stint back on the floor, Clark re-aggravated her previous groin strain against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night, July 15. The Fever’s star point guard sat out the second half of a back-to-back against the New York Liberty on Wednesday, though that was not enough time for her to fully recover.
Indiana doesn’t play again before the All-Star Game on July 19. Unfortunately for Clark and fans of both the Fever and the league, she won’t be able to participate in the highly-anticipated exhibition match or the 3-point contest, in which she previously decided to enroll.

Clark penned a heartfelt message to fans on Thursday, which the Indiana Fever shared on its official X account.
I’m so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I want to thank the Indianapolis Host Committee and all of the people that have put endless work in over the past year to put this event together. I know this will be the best All-Star yet.
I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game. I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I’m looking forward to helping Sandy coach our team to a win.
Can’t wait to see you all out there!

Multiple Injuries Have Disrupted Caitlin Clark’s Second WNBA Season

Clark lived a relatively charmed basketball life from an injury perspective up until this season.
She didn’t suffer a single major issue during her four years at the University of Iowa, which included two trips the the Final Four and two appearances in the NCAA Championship Game.
The Hawkeyes earned second-place finishes in each of Clark’s junior and senior seasons. She also won the Naismith Player of the Year Award in both of those campaigns.
Clark then remained healthy for the entirety of her rookie season in 2024. She went on to win WNBA Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the first-team All-WNBA squad. Clark set the league record for assists in a single game and for an entire season last year and has been an All-Star in both of her professional campaigns. She holds a litany of other records, as well, just a year and a half into her professional campaign.
Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in 2025, even despite her several injury issues. However, the breaks in action due to her health concerns have clearly impacted Clark when she has been on the floor, as she is shooting just 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from behind the 3-point line this season.
