Caleb Williams News is a Good Sign for the Bears

As of Sunday, November 30, Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears are on top of not just the NFC North but the entire NFC. It’s a spectacular accomplishment for a team that rounded out the season with a 5-12 record and in the last spot in the NFC North.

The standing is thanks to the Chicago Bears pulling off a 24-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, November 28, to upend the reigning champions, as well as other teams in the NFC, such as the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions, losing their Thanksgiving weekend games.

“I think every single game that we play is to make a statement,” Williams said after the Bears win, according to the NFL’s official website. “That’s just another game for us. Focus on being 1-0 each week. We keep doing that.”

He added, “We keep focusing on what’s inside, the noise inside the building. Honestly, the statements and all of that, it’s more of the outside noise. It’s more of the kind of stuff for y’all to talk about, the analysts and whoever to talk about.”

Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams Makes NFL History

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has worked wonders with Williams. He’s really brought the best out of this once challenged young player.

Now, under Johnson’s guidance, Williams has notched an interesting NFL record. According to research from the Bears Wire using Stathead, Williams has wrapped up 26 consecutive games without throwing multiple interceptions. That ties him with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts for the top stat in the NFL.

“Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford previously had the longest streak with 27 games before tossing multiple picks against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday,” Brendan Sugrue of the Bears Wire notes in a Sunday, November 30 feature.

An even cooler statistic is that the last time Williams threw multiple interceptions in a game was back in Week 3 of the 2024 season, when Chicago dropped 21-16 to the Indianapolis Colts.

“Williams has thrown just 11 interceptions across two seasons, which is 20th out of 24 quarterbacks who have started at least 20 games over the last two seasons,” Sugrue adds.

Ben Johnson Praises the Chicago Bears’ Running Game

After the critical win over the Eagles, Johnson praised the Chicago Bears, especially their running game.

Can’t say enough about that running game,” Johnson told  the media. “I don’t think we win that game if we’re not able to run the ball like we were. Both the backs, over 100 yards, it was just outstanding. You could feel decisiveness, you could feel them hitting it downhill. They turned on the gas and were lowering their shoulders, too.”

It’s fun to see predictions of the Bears falling to the Eagles knowing that it didn’t happen.

“The Chicago Bears continue to find ways to win games despite ranking among the worst statistical defenses in the NFL,” Neil Parker of Yahoo Sports note in a preview piece out on Monday, November 24. “Chicago has allowed the sixth-most points per game, third-highest yards per game, and ranked 26th in defensive DVOA heading into Week 12, after all.”

Predictions are made to be proven wrong, and the Bears did just that against the Eagles.
