The New York Giants have a lot of work to do heading into the NFL offseason after a disappointing 2025 campaign in which the storied franchise finished with a record of 4-13, locked up the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and needs to find a new head coach.
The first order of business for the Giants‘ brass will be finding Brian Daboll’s replacement as the new leader on the sideline, with some intriguing options available on the open market, like two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski and one-time Super Bowl champion Mike McCarthy.

With the Giants heading into a new era with rising star quarterback Jaxson Dart under center and a new head coach set to be hired before the 2026 NFL season, up-and-coming running back Cam Skattebo recently chimed in on the future of the New York franchise, with some interesting and telling comments and what the team should do moving forward, via Steve Serby of the New York Post.
“Someone has to come in here and put their foot in the ground,” Skattebo said of the Giants’ coaching search.
Skattebo was a fan of Daboll, so perhaps he wants someone in New York with the same kind of attitude, which is understandable.
However, perhaps Skattebo’s most interesting comments were about the Giants’ locker room, as he pointed to a lack of leadership.
“The leadership role in the players in the locker room also needs to be improved as well,” Skattebo said.
Even though the team is coming off a four-win season and fell well short of expectations, it does have a talented young core, which is something that will likely intrigue top-tier coaches available during the NFL offseason.
Cam Skattebo Shares Thoughts on Giants QB Jaxson Dart

The dynamic trio of Dart, Skattebo and wide receiver Malik Nabers will likely be the driving force for this storied franchise moving forward, as the young core has a promising future, even though two of these players are currently rehabbing from season-ending injuries.
Even though there are a lot of things that need to be corrected during the NFL offseason, starting with bringing in a new head coach, the Giants have a potentially bright future ahead, with Skattebo all in, especially when it comes to playing with Dart, via Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic.
“I’m excited to build something here,” Skattebo said. “No matter who is in this building, we have our quarterback.”
In the 12 games played after taking over for veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, Dart went on to throw for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the ground game, rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns, which is impressive, to say the least.
As long as Dart can stay healthy and avoid taking big hits, the Giants quarterback has a chance to be a star in the NFL and the new face of the franchise.
