It’s been quite the year for Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert. After making the playoffs with in HC Jim Harbaugh’s first year with the team and signing a massive $262.5 million extension in 2024, Herbert is making personal strides both on and off the field in 2025.
Herbert is one of the frontrunners to win the 2025 NFL MVP award, despite his pace slowing down in recent weeks with all the injuries along the offensive line. Through eight games, he has 2,140 passing yards and 16 touchdowns to seven interceptions, completing passes at a 67.9-percent clip. Herbert’s added 248 rushing yards, as well.
Fresh off a dominating win on Thursday Night Football over the Vikings, Herbert enjoyed a courtside view of a Friday night Los Angeles Lakers game — but he wasn’t alone. Singer and model Madison Beer, Herbert’s rumored new beau, was sitting courtside with the Chargers quarterback, seemingly confirming their new relationship.

With Beer at his side, Herbert enjoyed the house’s premier seats to watch the Lakers on Friday night. At one point, an errant pass fired towards the sideline where Beer and Herbert were seated. As the basketball raced towards Beer, Herbert reached his arm out to block it as she ducked behind his shoulder, providing quite the photo op on their first night out as a couple.
Beer is enjoying quite the run of her own. She just released the music video for her new single “bittersweet” a few days ago, and is one of the most successful singer/songwriters, models, and actors in the world.
The Lakers got a dominant home win on Friday night over the Timberwolves, with Luka Doncic recording a near triple-double with 49 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists to pace Los Angeles. Austin Reaves pitched in 25 and Rui Hachimura had 24 as well.
The Los Angeles Chargers are the Early Leaders in the AFC West
Sitting at 5-3, the Chargers lead the AFC West despite the boatload of injuries they’ve had to endure, particularly along the offensive line. With wins over each of their divisional opponents, including a statement victory over the Chiefs in São Paulo back in Week 1, Los Angeles has the early leg up in that division.
Still, the Chargers have a long way to go if they want to win their division or even return to the playoffs. The AFC playoff race is shaping up to be extremely competitive, but the good news for the Chargers is they have an easier schedule over the next few weeks.
With the Titans, Steelers, Jaguars, and Raiders on deck, Los Angeles should be able to pick up some wins before their season closes with the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Texans, and Broncos. If they can get healthy before that stretch, the Chargers will be in prime position to secure the AFC West.
